Merging

[edit]

I think that Museum of Natural History should stay and Natural history museum should just redirect to Natural History Museum - the London museum which is the only one to have that official name. I've added to that page a disambiguating link back to Museum of Natural History, which should be used for lists of museums (as it already is) and hopefully expanded for more general articles around the subject, such as preservation of exhibits, history, role in research and conservation etc. Any objections? I agree with User:Loxlie that Natural history museum should redirect to Natural History Museum - the idea of a natural history museum in general is more of a dictionary definition than an encyclopedic idea. However, I would suggest renaming *this* article to List of Natural History Museums to obey WP:LIST naming guidelines. It's been 2 months now with this tag, I'm going to put these suggestions into place now. -- Smith120bh/TALK 18:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that while all the museums listed were in blue ink, that many of them did not have articles. When I clicked on Berkeley Natural History Museums I was surprised to find myself taken to an external link rather than a Wikipedia article. The Manual of Style says that External links should not normally be used in the body of an article. See also: Wikipedia:External links --Bejnar (talk) 17:53, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation page?

[edit]

We noticed that this page is marked as a disambiguation page - but itsn't it rather just a list page? If nobody objects, we'll remove the disambiguation template. Cgohlke (talk) 11:00, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed split of United States Natural history musems

[edit]

This list is quite lengthy, and the section on the United States alone is almost as long as all of Europe. A sub-list entitled List of natural history museums in the United States may help readers more quickly locate information. Thoughts? --Animalparty-- (talk) 19:37, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
