Sarabhai Merck

[edit]

The article claims that the company was established in 1920. Every other source says otherwise.

According Merck group website - "The joint venture Sarabhai Merck Ltd. Baroda, founded in 1958, is dissolved in 1969."

The Enterprise and Its Environment by A. L. Rice - "The Sarabhai share of the profits generated by these enterprises was subsequently used to build Sarabhai-Merck for the manufacture and sale of analytical reagents and vitamins. This company was set up in 1958 in collaboration with Merck of Germany who participated in the equity, but responsibility for management was vested as with Suhrid-Geigy in K.P.P. Ltd."

An Unfinished Agenda by K Anji Reddy - "Not surprisingly, the German Merck's business suffered during the war years and it was not until 1957 that Sarabhai Merck, a joint venture with Vikram Sarabhai, commenced production of ascorbic acid at Baroda, marking the re-establishment of the E. Merck business in India."

It also appeared in Chemicals: Quarterly Industry Report in 1968 and International Commerce in 1965.

Here also 1958. Even the newspaper dont have anything published before it. Same with google scholar and rajga sabha.

We should change it. Changeworld1984 (talk) 18:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ambalal Sarabhai Enterprises states "Other important collaborations followed: in 1955 with J. R. Geigy, Switzerland, for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, textiles, auxiliaries, and dyes; in 1958 with E. Merck, Germany, for the manufacture of Vitamin C and Fine Chemicals."
Regarding these facts I am changing the date. Changeworld1984 (talk) 18:35, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
