KIA/MIA[edit]

The (i.e. my!) original idea re highlighting entries was to identify those holders who died flying, since this was relevant to the purpose of the list. The fact that WWI started soon after the advent of powered flight meant that some pilots also died, not through accident but at the hand of others (e.g. shot down). In other words, it is not the fact of death per se (we all have to go some time!) but death related to flying that is the reason for highlighting. Hence a pilot who transferred back to his regiment and then died in the trenches did not die flying. Hence I think that KIA/MIA deaths should only be highlighted when related to flying. What do others think? --TraceyR (talk) 19:02, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK seems reasonable to only mark aircraft related deaths. MilborneOne (talk) 19:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contents box[edit]

This article does not show a contents box, but the very similar articles List of pilots awarded an Aviator's Certificate by the Royal Aero Club in 1910 and List of pilots awarded an Aviator's Certificate by the Royal Aero Club in 1911 do. I can't see where the difference lies - what am I missing? Thanks! --TraceyR (talk) 20:37, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have forced a TOC to appear - the reason I believe is that it doesnt show if you three or less sections and some of the other years have four. MilborneOne (talk) 21:53, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
