Also: Cook County, East Coast area, North Island, New Zealand 1876-1989 when it became part of Gisborne District Council under local Govt reform- see entry for Cook County; while this does not state it was named after James Cook it was the first part of NZ he saw and explored from the Endeavour in 1769 and is clearly named for him. 222.154.94.26 (talk) 08:58, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
