Inclusion criteria
[edit]There really should be some clear-cut inclusion criterion agreed upon to determine which songs should be added to this article. There are probably a countless number of songs which have been sung by children around the world throughout time, but mere existence isn't a very good criterion for inclusion when it comes to an article such as this. The most basic criterion generally applied to this type of article (per WP:CSC) is that each entry have a stand-alone article Wikipedia written about it.
It might be possible to include red links for Wikipedia-notable songs which don't yet have articles written about them which are supported by a citation to a reliable source, but too many red-link entries is not desirable at all. If a song meets WP:GNG or WP:NSONG, then the probably best thing to do would be to write the article first and then add a link to that article to this article so that all the entries have actual articles where an interested reader can find out more information about the song if they want.
Misleading piped links (e.g. "Joy to the World that Barney's Dead": link syntax [[Joy to the World|Joy to the World that Barney's Dead]]
), however, should be especially avoided since they don't provide any encyclopedic value to Wikipedia or its readers; there should be at least some mention of the children's version/parody version of a song if the target article of the link is the original version of the song. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:14, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
