Importance relative to prestige

[edit]

This is not that big a deal, but it seems odd to be that the importance of the list of prestige dialects page would be higher than that of prestige. If anything, I would expect it to be the other way around. James McBride (talk) 22:21, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It has been my personal observation:

  • - In Arabic: Classical/MSA, Nadj are usually favored as well as each country's standard.
  • - Hebrew: true Modern standard Hebrew for is especially important as in say government. However I have not meet a Hebrew speaker yet that does not admired greatly the pronunciation of Yemenite Hebrew. e.g., Ofra Haza.
  • - And in Assyrian Neo-Aramaic, Iraqi koine.

However this only reflects my personal observation, I would recommend it be compared with other research and observation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.46.200.167 (talk) 17:05, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

Who else thinks the following sentence reeks of POV?"

"Spanish- The Spanish spoken in and around the Bogotá region in Colombia has a prestige to it due to its smooth, and flawless accent."

Not only that sentence, most of the article consisted of unsourced claim about this or that dialect being prestigious. I removed all such unsourced claims, could people please read WP:RS and WP:OR. Jeppiz (talk) 15:05, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
