Images

[edit]

I am adding images of the stations. Let's stick to links for the images. If someone has images in commons, please feel free to link directly too. As this is a list page, putting individual images may not be practical. We may put some unique or interesting images directly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jainnys (talkcontribs) 23:41, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed the links since they were to copyrighted images. Only links to publicly availaible or commons images should be added. External copyrighted links are acceptable to an extent, but there were too many links from the same website, and that may be equal to promotion of that site/copyright infringement. A link to the site may be added at the end of the site as an external reference.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 16:12, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated stations?

[edit]

Some stations such as Bankura and Bangarapet are repeated in the list. What can be done about them? Any suggestions? The Silent Contributor 17:11, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

well someone familiar with that station will have to help. thats a prob with the indian rail database and how are we going to cite this point unless there is a change in the official database. --Nikhilhuilgol 14:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

Where the town for a station exists, such as Jaora, the town topic should mention that the railway station exists.

The image Image:Indian Railways logo.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Line order

[edit]

There should be a version of this list with the stations in line order rather than alphabetical order. Most other Railway stations by country are done this way. Tabletop (talk) 01:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need this? As far as I know, there is no concept of "lines" on the Indian Railway system, with the only exception being the Metro and suburban services. The Silent Contributor (talk) 09:16, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
One can always search for a station using the wiki search function, no matter what order the stations are in. If one wants to follow the stations in order from say Delhi to Bhopal this is easier if the stations are in line order than in alphabetical order. Rename this page.

[edit]

Most of these lists are called say Railway stations in Benin. For consistency, List of railway stations in India should be renamed Railway stations in India.
