How can the five administrative regions of the Northwest Territories include all of Nunavut? —Largo Plazo 19:20, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain what you mean, as the five current administrative regions (Inuvik Region, Sahtu Region, Dehcho Region, North Slave Region and South Slave Region) don't include any part of Nunavut. Prior to 1 April 1999 the current NWT and Nunavut were all part of a larger NWT. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. I didn't notice that the map was of the former regions. Strange to have a map of the old regions and not a map of the current ones. —Largo Plazo 14:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gwich'in / Inuvialuit overlap

[edit]

@CambridgeBayWeather: I'm confused about your statement that Gwich'in Settlement Area overlaps with Inuvialuit Settlement Region. My understanding of the agreement (at page 133 using the PDF's numbering) says that the northern boundary of Gwich'in between Yukon and the Iroquois River is defined as being the southern boundary of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. Doesn't this mean there is no overlap? —Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 17:15, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure where the Iroquois River is. Is it in Yukon? It's in the two communities in the NWT. I changed it slightly. Does it look better now? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:47, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I recently shifted the Open Street Map borders of Gwich'in and Inuvialuit to match the legal descriptions of the areas in the amended treaties. They share a long border along the entire northern border of Gwich'in, but at no point do they overlap. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any source proving that they overlap. —Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 14:52, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Both claims ask for the two communities. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 22:22, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regional office or seat

[edit]

They are not called seats but "Regional offices(s)", was referenced as such, and has nothing to do with any anti United States feelings. This edit summary is childish. Just because other jurisdictions use seat does not mean that this should use an incorrect term. I notice that some counties in the UK use "Admin HQ". Should we change all of the United States and Canada to use that or change the United Kingdom to read seat? I see you mentioned the state of Connecticut. Should we change the "Province of Alberta" to the "State of Alberta" because that is how it is done in the US? We use the correct term for the place it is located.

Can you also explain why you removed references? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 20:41, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
