[edit]

Just to clarify that at this time, there have been IP user changes to this article that distorts some detail:

  • Ibstock has been hatchet-style added to Coalville although there is some separation between the two and are in separate parishes (same occurred to Loughborough and Quorn but I reinstated the separate entries). Heather, although much closer to Ibstock has been put into the excluded list (I separated it from Ibstock when it had it's own table entry) Point being adding Ibstock which is half a mile away then you may as well add Heather and other surrounding yet nearer communities such as Ravenstone/Swannington/Ellistown etc which are currently in the excluded list. Also, adding Ibstock to Coalville appears to give the convenient effect of giving Leicester 3 communities over 40K so matching Northamptonshire's 'large town' count in the UKF2 table - we shouldn't be changing detail for bragging rights, and there is a hint of bias with these changes.

  • NUTS UKF2 demographic population detail and table added but unsure how much value it brings looking ahead, especially as it's for multiple counties and that the UK recently voted to leave the EU and NUTS is an EU standard for member countries only, so currently relevant but not in the near future. Should it have it's own article considering how readers of the other two counties Rutland and Northamptonshire would see this detail too? It would have to centralised so you are updating one page and not three.

  • Lower half of the population table are parish counts rather than built-up area counts so not consistent, some parishes have multiple communities which ideally could be considered individually so that we have representative counts

  • A lot of the changes introduced in the lead section and UKF2 table have no references/citations added so some counts and detail are original research/estimates

I'm hoping the IP user sees these concerns and adds suggestions on addressing these in order to form a factual and relevant article. The Equalizer (talk) 14:13, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing content

[edit]

As per the unclear banner placed by KeithD, the symbols were added by a IP editor that was making well-intentioned edits but ultimately over-engineering Leicestershire based articles such as this a couple of years ago. Admin Michig eventually blocked the Leicester urban area page after the editor was ignoring various warnings on their talk pages.

To me, this IP editor has added a symbol column, and larger settlements come under 'category' #I (Leicester) or IIx where x is a further subdivision using Greek symbols, with villages under 10000 residents in group #IIIx. Definitely a form of style without giving any real substance and is more a vanity project.
