add Diaspora

Please add Diaspora to the list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Intermediatech (talkcontribs) 23:12, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

From what I can gather from the Diaspora (software) article, Diaspora is a software and hosting service startup that plans on hosting other companies' social networking websites at some point, but it's not actually a social networking website itself. I see that you have added it to the list at Social media, but I don't think it belongs here. — Satori Son 20:17, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Howardcwu (talk) 17:29, 24 May 2011 (UTC) Not done: I checked out the references on the article; only one of them (the one in Seattle Times) mentions the social networking site, and the article doesn't mention it at all...this is really borderline. I'm inclined to say no, because the SNS itself doesn't have an article (as required by the page inclusion criteria), only the umbrella charity. Others may disagree and can explain so here, but I'm marking this as resolved, not done. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:29, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Request for adding Balluun to the list of social networking sites

We like to request "add to the list" of social networking websites with www.balluun.com

Balluun is the first social business-to-business marketplace that focuses on the business relationship. It is the first social network for B2B built as a marketplace where brands, wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and boutiques can connect to build their own social b2b community and buy from each other. Balluun enables companies of any size to create a free company storefront, receive free recommendations of new buyers, communicate on a variety of user-generated activity streams and transact all on one platform. Balluun allows sellers and buyers to create private networks in which they can interact at every level of a business relationship and associated transactions.

Doing business with us Balluun's technology creates a new category in the B2B market segment and its mission is to provide a social B2B e-commerce solution to small and medium-enterprises (SMEs) to address a global market and increase sales.

Thank you.

Per the big orange box you saw when you edited this page, we only add links to this list that have their own Wikipedia article. To create such an article, though, you'll need to show that Balluun is already considered notable, by showing that it has been discussed in detail in multiple, independent, reliable sources. For more information on creating an article, please see Wikipedia:Starting an article. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:06, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

This list should include Blog Interact - Social Media Network. (http://bloginteract.com/) Blog Interact has an international following and member list. It is a multi-media platform for the exchanging of ideas for bloggers, podcasters, photo and video journalists. On-site and off-site voting can be done through their branded "interact" tab, which functions like many social media or bookmarking sites. There is no requirement or fees for membership, only that users follow the terms of service and privacy policy as stated. The membership number is not known to-date. Blog Interact has an extremely low Alexa traffic score of 26,900 internationally and 12,000 in the United States, where it is based. All information provided is verifiable.

Not until it survives AfD. Come back after that AfD is finished, if it survives, and I'll add it. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:44, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
How does one close out an AfD? Part of the reason it is up for AfD is because not many articles link to it. So, this is kind of a chicken before the egg scenario. It needs articles to be linked to it. It is a legitimate social network. Heartiscontentious (talk) 15:02, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
AFDs run for a minimum of 7 days. This one started on 13 September so it should close out at the earliest tomorrow. It has not had much participation so it might end of being relisted for more input. The number of articles that are linked to it has no bearing on whether it is deleted. You are the only one that mentions in the AFD anything about the number of inked articles. GB fan 22:43, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
GB fan is correct. The question at the AfD is whether or not FilmCrave is a notable website, based on our notability criteria. I've just voted to delete in the AfD; the main thing that article needs is some independent coverage actually discussing the site in detail, to demonstrate that it is notable. Still, the issue is borderline, and with one or two more sources, I could easily see the article being kept. I've watchlisted the Afd, so I'll see what happens. The Afd was just "relisted", that means that an admin felt that after 7 days there wasn't a clear enough input to decide whether the article should be kept or deleted. 7 more days of discussion will ensue; hopefully some more opinions will be provided. Apologies, I can't understand exactly what you're saying. I think you're saying that there is an article on this subject in Italian Wikipedia. You can ask for someone to try to translate that into English, but you should know that each Wikipedia language has its own rules, so sometimes an article that is kept on one will be deleted on another. Xt3.com's formation

I was one of the original developers of Xt3 while working for Sense Internet (Leeds, UK) back in 2007/2008. Xt3 was an independent non-profit org setup by a private citizen for the purposes of encouraging social awareness and global interoperation between Catholic youths, and Xt3.com was to be the main platform for these ambitions. It was created before World Youth Day but with income from the Catholic Church and cooperation during closed beta (which began during December 2007 / January 2008) World Youth Day 2008 was set as the official open launch for the site.

So what I'm getting at is the current description of "Catholic social networking, created after World Youth Day 2008" is wrong. Wesleymason (talk) 22:57, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

I think Tumblr's number of users needs updating. On this page it's listed as 15,940, which seems like a crazily low number. The Tumblr page lists that it hosts over 108 million blogs (citing Tumblr's About page).

This article on AllThingsD tries to work out active user numbers. They take 110 million as the number of registered users, and estimate that 30-50 million of those are active. However, they haven't said where they're getting the number of registered users from — they may be assuming that the number of blogs is the same as the number of registered users. In this Guardian article, Yahoo claim that Tumblr is currently receiving 120,000 signups a day. According to TechCrunch back in 2010, Tumblr had six million users three years ago.

The point is, while it is hard to find an exact figure for the number of Tumblr users, the currently listed 15,940 is wildly inaccurate. We should either remove that figure all together, or replace it with "108 million blogs", mentioning in a note that it is the number of blogs rather than number of registered users. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amorya (talkcontribs)

This is a non-profit site and even though it's still in it's very early stages we're working really hard to make it amongst the big dogs such as Google +, Facebook, Twitter, etc...

The main focus of Duck Messenger is messaging. Right now we have the ability to message through quacks but we're working on a chat system, offline apps and even APIs.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
