copyright issues Global Peace Index[edit]
in Wikipedia people are free to put anything from the article, many Wikipedia use articles without any copyright issues, I myself asked the admin of the Malay Wikipedia he said there was no problem Funziaw (talk) 05:31, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- Some Wikipedias are stricter about copyright than others. Here on the English-language Wikipedia, we have a strict copyright policy, and don't allow people to copy content from copyright works. — Diannaa (talk) 13:10, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
copyright Global Peace Index[edit]
from sources and external links even from one more article I wrote that general articles the whole article is there, I took it from humanity not articles you put it. ... key finding for GPI already exist from the previous year so why do you say copyright?? from before no issues are copyright why do you only? Funziaw (talk) 05:34, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- You removed some content regarding the 2023 index. That content did not appear to have been copied from elsewhere. Then in a later edit you added some content that is an exact match for content found here. The same content is also present here. Both of those pages are marked as being copyright, which means it's not okay for you to copy the content to Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 13:18, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Copying with out acknowledgement[edit]
You detected that user:Ed8694 had violated copy right. I have now detected in multiple articles that this user has copied and pasted from one article to another sections that contain others work (it mucked up references). Initially I reverted Territories claimed by the Philippines so the page was not all mucked up with red warning messages before I fully considered the implications that this user had violated the earlier edit summary undertaking given to me in their talk. I am now assuming they may be acting in bad faith and will disengage. I have accordingly not drawn this matter to their attention. Could I please ask for your greater experience and expertise to help the greater wikipedia community. ChaseKiwi (talk) 08:00, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- I have placed a
{{uw-copying}}
template on their talk page that explains what to do when copying within Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 12:19, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
Copyright issue[edit]
Can you take a look at this[1]? The template has been removed by the editor suspected of copyright infringement. Semsûrî (talk) 11:34, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed. Thanks for the report. — Diannaa (talk) 12:48, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
"KirkukNow is a copyright-free site. Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 12:07 pm, Today (UTC+1)Reply You're just trying to block instead of "finding disruption by kirkukturk3" now. KirkukNow does not contain copyrighted material even searching via the copyright system [175] searching it here will not show any results, KirkukNow only claims that the journalists can't report to any other news sources only. Also if I'm the one being disruptive here, then explain this [176] Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 12:18 pm, Today (UTC+1)Reply
@Kirkukturk3 When I look at Kirkuknow[177] I see "KIRKUKNOW ©Copyright 2021 All rights reserved" Doug Weller (A/CU/OS) talk 3:06 pm, Today (UTC+1)Reply
Yes for the journalist part, many journalists tend to post their story on other medias so KirkukNow assures that the story won't be posted on other medias, overall most of their articles texts are copyright-free expect for the quotes and the journalists POV. Semsûrî did focus on that part but poorly. Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 4:08 pm, Today (UTC+1)"
The odd sigs are by Kirkukturk3, some at least don't even lead to his talk page
Thanks. Doug Weller talk 15:27, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Doug, I don't have time to look into this matter at present, sorry. — Diannaa (talk) 16:04, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

I don't understand which part of the text is copyright infringement? I have placed a reference in each sentence. Thanks for your reply.--Марко Станојевић (talk) 15:38, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Of course you should cite your sources, but it's not okay to copy from them. The pages where I found the matching content are marked "© 2024 Advance Local Media LLC. All rights reserved " and "© 2024 Skokstudio, LLC. All rights reserved." That means we can't copy from them. Everything you add to Wikipedia needs to be written in your own words please. — Diannaa (talk) 15:47, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- OK. I will correct the sentences from those sites. But it seems to me that you marked the whole article as copied. I don't know if I understood correctly? I have been editing in Serbian for a long time and now I wanted to try editing in English. I am interested in music topics. Thanks for helping me understand my mistakes.--Марко Станојевић (talk) 15:59, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think you mean the CopyPatrol system marked the article as potentially contaning copyright material? That was done by our automatic detection system, not me personally. — Diannaa (talk) 16:03, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- OK. Just tell me if I need to change the whole article or just these two sites that you told me.--Марко Станојевић (talk) 16:09, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- I already removed the copied content. — Diannaa (talk) 17:41, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- The current version is okay from a copyright point of view. — Diannaa (talk) 17:56, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Revision deletion[edit]
Hello. May I request a deletion of this revision for obvious reasons? Thank you. Sanglahi86 (talk) 18:47, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for the report. — Diannaa (talk) 19:18, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
Advertisement tag in article[edit]
Dear Dianaa,
first of all a big thanks for all the effort you spend in this platform. I have a short question. I edited the article "Round Table (club)" and after the article was marked with the Advertisement tag, I was going through it and I had to agree to your point. I tried to rephrase some sentences and removed the tag, but you restored it.
Can you give me a hint which part do you have in sense, which needs to be rephrased? Such a hint would be very helpful to improve the article
Thanks and best regards Thomas ThomasDoerr (talk) 12:40, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Mr Doerr. The part that caught my eye was the community service section. It could do with some more encyclopedic wording. — Diannaa (talk) 12:42, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- thanks a lot for your hint. I have rephrased and reworked the article, but I have not removed the tag in the header (I dont want to play a add and remove game).
- Would you please so kind to check it and come back to me, if you think that this is now acceptable and if not, what I can still improve?
- I highly appreciate your help ThomasDoerr (talk) 17:38, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- It's better now. Thanks for taking the time to do that. — Diannaa (talk) 22:44, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
Copyright release wizard?[edit]
Hi I was given the link to the Wikimedia VRT release generator to release narrative on a website. However it seems to be geared toward pics and not narrative. Is there one I am missing? Tank you! Geraldine Aino (talk) 14:27, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- For text, please see WP:Donating copyrighted materials for an explanation of how to do it. There's a sample permission email at WP:Consent. For images at the Commons, see Commons:Volunteer Response Team, where there's a similar template but a different email address to which the permission email needs to be sent. — Diannaa (talk) 18:32, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
Lack of content in certain language[edit]
I want to write a Vietnamese version of Shoji Nishio. Do I need to use Vietnamese sources? His Aikido style is not very popular in Vietnam so there is very little content in Vietnamese about him or his style. Tamle2nd (talk) 15:52, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. You could ask someone at the Vietnamese wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 20:29, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for being patient and reaching out to me about the copyright issue on my first major edit of an article (Leptoceridae)! I will fix the issue ASAP and look for sources that won't give us these problems. I hope you have a good day! Owlbyr (talk) 22:34, 28 June 2024 (UTC) |

The Saddle Club: Series 1 - plot summaries reverse[edit]
Why have you reverse the previous episode plot summaries of The Saddle Club: Series 1? Most of it was copied from other sources but with some changes. 86.129.31.232 (talk) 18:34, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- It actually has about an 86% overlap according to Earwig's tool. Most of it was copied unaltered. — Diannaa (talk) 19:33, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- So I just leave the old summaries but can add some changes to them as long as they are not copied from other sources? 86.129.31.232 (talk) 20:56, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- We have an automated system to detect copyright violations. So please don't copy from elsewhere. Everything you add to Wikipedia has to be written in your own words. — Diannaa (talk) 20:59, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Over the next three weeks, dark mode will become available for all users, both logged-in and logged-out, starting with the mobile web version. This fulfils one of the top-requested community wishes, and improves low-contrast reading and usage in low-light settings. As part of these changes, dark mode will also work on User-pages and Portals. There is more information in the latest Web team update. [2]
- Logged-in users can now set global preferences for the text-size and dark-mode, thanks to a combined effort across Foundation teams. This allows Wikimedians using multiple wikis to set up a consistent reading experience easily, for example by switching between light and dark mode only once for all wikis. [3]
- If you use a very old web browser some features might not work on the Wikimedia wikis. This affects Internet Explorer 11 and versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari older than 2016. This change makes it possible to use new CSS features and to send less code to all readers. [4][5]
- Wikipedia Admins can customize local wiki configuration options easily using Community Configuration. Community Configuration was created to allow communities to customize how some features work, because each language wiki has unique needs. At the moment, admins can configure Growth features on their home wikis, in order to better recruit and retain new editors. More options will be provided in the coming months. [6]
- Editors interested in language issues that are related to Unicode standards, can now discuss those topics at a new conversation space in MediaWiki.org. The Wikimedia Foundation is now a member of the Unicode Consortium, and the coordination group can collaboratively review the issues discussed and, where appropriate, bring them to the attention of the Unicode Consortium.
- One new wiki has been created: a Wikipedia in Mandailing (
w:btm:
) [7]
Problems
- Editors can once again click on links within the visual editor's citation-preview, thanks to a bug fix by the Editing Team. [8]
