Sould popular brands be listed in every country they are available? I assume drinks are only listed by country of origin - therefore shouldn't the 6+ varieties of Coke listed under Mexico be removed? The same goes for Pepsi in Norway, etc.? It would be redundant to list "Coke" and "Pepsi" in every country they appear, since that would pretty much be every country. - AKeen 01:32, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have trimmed the list of these duplicate entries - each soft drink is now only listed in its country of origin - AKeen 23:01, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The country of origin of Fanta and Sprite is Germany (see the respective Wikipedia article), so I corrected it. Mintaru 18:26, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I found this link today, I can not vouch for whether it is correct or not. I am absolutely certain that one of the URL's listed on it is inaccurate/not working. However, it lists some brands which are not listed at wikipedia, and I thought I should post it here. I felt it can provide a starting point for someone who later has time to improve the wikipedia article. You would have to verify each link and find better sources to cite for the drinks listed here. But I hope it is helpful in some way: http://en.academic.ru/dic.nsf/enwiki/1064866 Fallendarling (talk) 00:57, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scope

[edit]

The list includes items which are outside the scope of what a soft drink is. By definition (American Heritage Dictionary), a soft drink is "A nonalcoholic, flavored, carbonated beverage, usually commercially prepared and sold in bottles or cans" (emphasis added). It does not include apple cider, non-carbonated fruit drinks, fountain drinks, "sour power" - which is a mixer, not a soft drink, or other beverages served from taps.Irish Melkite (talk) 21:01, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the same note, the article is schizophrenic in its content. It either needs to be a list of soft drink flavors, soft drink brands (purportedly its scope, according to the descriptive lead-in), or soft drink manufacturers/distributors. Any of those might be doable. Presently, the article makes half-hearted efforts to be all of these, with the result being that it does not do justice to any of them.Irish Melkite (talk) 21:19, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the following text which, regardless of the article's scope, is outright incorrect. Although one can find instances of bottlers who have carbonated it, the blanket statement that apple cider is a carbonated beverage in the US is incorrect.

Inconsistancy

[edit]

Drinks like Red Bull are included in the Austria list yet not under Australia, I'm not even sure if Red Bull IS actually a real soft-drink anyway. There are more discontinued brands under Australia than there are current ones, and my own soft-drinks at home (I am an Australian) aren't even mentioned, Black and Gold, IGA Fury, etc...

Either totally redo the article, or just delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipfreely555 (talkcontribs) 03:17, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I hope I can help to redo/clean up this article. The main thing I noticed is that the article states a drink will only be included in its country of origin, but Fanta is listed under many countries. At the moment I am too busy, but I will put it on my list of hopeful future projects. Fallendarling (talk) 20:56, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

"Back o' Bourke Cordials" are apparetly 'popular' in northern NSW Australia. That is where I live, and I have personally never encountered one of these in my life, and I do make effort to try new sodas. I think describing it as "popular" and especially one of the sodas as "delicious" is overstepping the objectivity mark - I am removing the word delicious, at least. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.212.148.171 (talk) 09:47, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Mascot help

[edit]

I'm looking through the list of the ones released in Spanish speaking countries and i'm looking for a little bit of help on locating one that I remember, I remember this one having a cartoon chameleon mascot that was a downloadable screenmate on their website. Does anyone else know about this one or is it just me?
