P21/n

[edit]

Is P21/n () a synonym for one of the other monoclinic space groups? I find it in many papers on crystal structures, but it doesn't appear here.

According to this site's subpage here, it is an alternate name for group 14, P21c. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 18:28, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple short names

[edit]

The list gives a single short name, which seems to match up with those given by IUCR (see the drop down menu on this page). However, the published literature also uses the conventions of this page. These do not agree. See for example #64 is given as Cmca or Cmce, and #68 Ccca or Ccce. There are also many alternate names, but I'm not sure how common these are. There is no disagreement on the full name, but there should be some explanation of the conventions here and how short names are chosen. Forbes72 (talk) 18:08, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
