My old sandbox[edit]

Just to let everyone know that, since this list has already been created in articlespace, I've moved my sandbox version of it to Talk:List of space stations/Sandbox (and the associated talk page to Talk:List of space stations/SandboxTalk) in case anyone wants them. Cheers, SalopianJames - previously Colds7ream (talk) 21:35, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for that. Sorry I jumped the gun on creating the article.
Do you mind if I take some of the information from the sandbox and merge it into the main article? I'm sure a lot of the information you've included (especially in the lead) would be easy for me to source and include.
Thanks, ~ Matthewrbowker Talk to me 22:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, that's why I put it there! :-) SalopianJames - previously Colds7ream (talk) 20:01, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you much. I've gone ahead and copied the lead over, because it's a lot better than mine.~ Matthewrbowker Talk to me 23:39, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"CCCP"[edit]

"CCCP" is not an acronym for the coordinating agency of the Soviet space program; there was no such agency. "CCCP" is simply the way in which the Cyrillic letters СССР appear to eyes used to the Roman alphabet, equivalent to SSSR, standing for Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsiyalisticheskikh Respublik (Cyrillic: Союз Советских Социалистических Республик), i.e., "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", for which the normal English abbreviation is USSR. The Soviet space program had no agency comparable to NASA; instead, it consisted of the activity of several different design and building bureaus, which were only linked at the highest levels of the Soviet government and/or the Communist Party. Section order[edit]

What is the rationale for the defunct space stations appearing in the article ahead of the currently operational space stations? It seems a bit odd; but maybe there is a good reason. Anyone have insight into this? N2e (talk) 02:51, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Probably something to do with keeping them in chronological order, I would have thought. SalopianJames (talk) 12:46, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense. Thanks. Other's mileage may vary. N2e (talk) 01:50, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Planned decommissioning dates for Operational Stations[edit]

It seems it may make sense to include in this list a column to show the "planned" life for the two operational stations. The ISS was to end in c. 2015, but is currently 2020 as far as currently having in place the resouirce commitments to keep it in orbit and operational. I believe Tiangong 1 (as well as the proposed Tiangong 2) is "planned" for a much more short-term life, although I believe that either or both of the T2 or/and T3 "space station modules" may become a part of the (later) Chinese Space Station. I don't have a source handy, but believe it would be easy to find one.

What think others? Is the planned operational lifetime worthy of inclusion in a list like this? Cheers. N2e (talk) 03:38, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed stations section[edit]

I'd suggest a Proposed Stations section for example the Exploration Gateway Platform.Doyna Yar (talk) 15:10, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

With the reentry of Tiangong 1 the entry for that space station should be moved from the one listing orbiting stations to the one that includes the other stations that have reentered the Earth'e atmosphere. Once that's done this note could be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CCAD:D850:FD5C:C8C9:841E:B06 (talk) 08:31, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tiangong-2[edit]

How come Tiangong-2 is not listed here? It was launched on 15 September 2016 and visited in October 2016 by a 2-men crewed mission Shenzhou 11 and a uncrewed resupply craft Tianzhou-1 in April 2017. It is still orbiting and not deorbited, although it may not be considered as "operational". Not listing it anywhere while still includes it in the timeline creates a conflict and defying the fact that it is still orbiting. One way to resolve this issue is to change the section title from "operational stations" to "currently orbiting stations" and make a note to indicate (possibly with different background colors such as green and brown) that the ISS is "operational" and that Tiangong 2 is "unoccupied". According to Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO), Tiangong 2 is functioning normally and the “temperature and pressure of the experimental cabin all meet the working requirements.” The spacecraft will continue experiments and Earth observation until deorbiting, which will take place in or after July 2019. The past stations' table is too wide[edit]

The current table of past stations is too wide and overly detailed. The current column layout is Name–Entity–Program–Crew size–Launched–Reentered–Days in orbit–Days occupied–Total crew and visitors–Number of crew visits–Number of robotic visits–Mass–Pressurized volume. The table may do away with some of the columns. Any thoughts? --Soumya-8974 talk contribs subpages 18:05, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Soumya-8974:, I've just done this (is similar to what I did here):

Creating an article about Voyager Station[edit]

Need to create an article about Voyager Station planning to build by Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) by the year 2027 , they said in press release they are going to accomodate 400 people in that space station , something strange and unusual plan , anyway it should have an article 007sak (talk) 10:29, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
