Tower of the Americas

[edit]

It passes both criteria as a building per the Wikipedia article. Also, Stratosphere Las Vegas is listed on List of tallest buildings in the United States. This is also from that article "This ranking is based on the building's height to its roof or pinnacle" pinnacle would be valid here. No, other editors didn't miss it by accident, they couldn't find the building, you didn't dig very deep to find this conversation:

Fine, but then this list should be labeled "Tallest buildings and structures in Texas". The definition of a building is very subjective, but in skyscraper terms, most building lists count buildings as only those that are fully habitable. However, if a city has a tall free-standing structure, it should certainly be included, but the lists be renamed to accomodate it. I think that the Stratosphere Tower should be removed from the United States building list, simply because it is not a building. And no, the pinnacle ranking is not valid here, in that it is not ranking buildings to their pinnacles, which include radio masts. Raime 22:59, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One Shell Plaza

[edit]

Shouldn't this be number two then? If you go by the same criteria that was used with the Tower of the Americas, then to its tip, One shell Plaza in Houston is 1000 feet.

  • The whole note criteria is a dud. I'm fixing it. Therefore, according to CBTUH decision, the antenna is not counted, meaning that One Shell Plaza will remain at its current position, while TOTA will move to 28th. TheAustinMan (talk) 21:11, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Height measurement

[edit]

The Height measurement listing should include an additional column for roof height. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sdc905 (talkcontribs) 06:52, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability?

[edit]

I'm not one to whine about notability, but, well, why is this notable? I'm not saying it isn't, just that I can't figure out why myself. --68.230.167.244 (talk) 19:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TOTA to be removed (2023)

[edit]

The tower of the Americas is still counted as a building on this article. I know the issue was adressed on here but it was over 15 years ago. CTBUH doesn’t count TOTA as a building on their San Antonio list, neither does the Wikipedia San Antonio tallest buildings article. Also the older discussion argued that the Strat (Vegas observation deck) was on the USA’s tallest building list, it isn’t anymore. Therefore I will remove TOTA from this list.

let me know what you think. Xamrek (talk) 02:11, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
