Before adding to this list, please check the other lists for Illinois.

[edit]

Before you add a name to this particular list, please check the other lists, notated under "See also", to make sure that you are adding the name to the correct list. Funandtrvl (talk) 14:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rep by pop...?

[edit]

Is there no list with these places by population? I don't relish checking them all... TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 02:50, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seperate Lists for Towns and Villages

[edit]

Incorporated towns (not to be confused with townships), villages, and cities are three different types of municipalities in Illinois. There is a separate list of cities in Illinois; so I propose that towns and villages have their own lists. Squideshi (talk) 23:11, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine with me, although there are a lot of incorrect entries made to this list and the cities list, because people may not realize that there are two, and now maybe three different lists. --Funandtrvl (talk) 22:34, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Since there are only 16 inc. towns in IL, I'm going to separate them in this list, instead of creating another pg to watch. --Funandtrvl (talk) 23:12, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it's done. I think that's better than having 3 separate pgs. In fact, some states have only one pg, called "list of incorporated places in ...". --Funandtrvl (talk) 23:51, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I made a "good faith" edit before I realized the difference between the two pages, but have noticed that both pages, now that I know, I still see a lot of inconsistentcies and absent entries. It should be clear in the intros that there are these two pages that make the differentiation, for one, and should also be complete". --Soco_79 (talk)(UTC)

Missing cities and towns in both lists

[edit]

I made a good faith edit before I realized the difference between the two pages, but have noticed that both pages, now that I know, I still see a lot of inconsistencies and absent entries. FOR INSTANCE: the town of Norway wasn't in either of them. And it was decided that there would be only two pages for all cities/towns/villages whatever, so its not like it should be in some other "unincorporated page" It should also be very clear in the intros to the 2 pages that there are these two pages that make the differentiation. They also obviously need work". --Soco_79 (talk)(UTC)

If you will see the "See also" section of this article, you will see that there are a group of articles on settlements in Illinois. For most of the entries you have added, if you would simply look at the top of the infobox on the article, the settlement type is listed. John from Idegon (talk) 23:50, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Understood... I now understand there are basically three separate pages for illinois settlements... cities, villages and towns, and unincorporated places thank you.--Soco_79 (talk)(UTC)

Where are Townships listed? If anywhere?

[edit]

An IP tried adding Bowling Green to this list but red linked it. I found Bowling Green Township, Fayette County, Illinois and noticed it isn't on any list of Illinois municipalities. Figure it has to do with being a township. Do we not have a list of those? --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 04:24, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

See List of Illinois townships and List of townships in Illinois by county. Funandtrvl (talk) 17:22, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I didn't see it listed under see also on Il City or Unincorporated lists. Of course I didn't look at the see also on this list...or think to look for it. I will expand the see also on those other lists. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 05:33, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
