The sister city entry contradicts the entry for other city. Refer Salem,_Oregon#Sister_cities - Unsigned comment

Washington, D.C., United States

Please check if this is indeed a sister city of Delhi. Indya1000 (talk) 18:09, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really a twinned city of Kanpur? As I am aware, China is one of the few major world states of which no cities are twinned in India. --92.19.26.39 (talk) 15:43, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Goa and Calicut

Tie-up with Barcelona Abandoned

[edit]
The Twinning or Tie-up with Barcelona has expired and has been abandoned. Hence removing the mention from the Twinned cities table. See here: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/shashi-tharoor-denies-reports-on-mp-funds-spending/articleshow/9361163.cms - MountainWhiskey - talk 05:57, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User Samaleks has undone my edit without proper clarification.
Dear Samaleks: First of all, the twinning was never really "ON".
The newslink above clearly quotes Tharoor as saying "However, the project could not be implemented due to lack of interest shown by the LDF in the state, he said. The agreement only required approval by Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation. But as a result of petty politics by Left dominated muncipal authorities, the agreement was allowed to lapse', he added.
It is very clear from the above news article that the Twinning Agreement is not taking off. Lapse & Not Implemented means NOT happening in simple English.
FYI also, this article is worth reading.
I have posted a link which clearly says that it is not happening. Since you object to that, please provide a recent link which says that the Twinning Agreement has been renewed or that some action is happening on it. Cheers & I am not interested in an edit war. Fellow editors, please take note and contribute! - MountainWhiskey - talk 05:10, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The twinning agreement was signed in 2010, and there was a cultural visit from Barcelona to this Indian city.[1], [2]

Also, the agreement in principle was already signed in 2010, and now waiting for the approval from Cental ministry.[3]

The recent allegetions are political and debate is about whether this twinning was fruitful or not. --Vythiri (talk) 11:50, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Layout

[edit]

The layout of this article seems unnecessarily complicated. The colours are anything but Wikipedia standard, and they're not even applied consistently. The boldface within the tables also seems unnecessary. I'd thus propose to either switch all tables to the standard wikitable layout, like this:

City Nation
Kyoto Japan
Kathmandu Nepal

Or we could do away with the tables altogether and follow the style used at, say, List of twin towns and sister cities in the United Kingdom or List of sister cities in the United States; that would be still easier. Huon (talk) 16:33, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Claim that Oklohoma City is a sister city of Indore

[edit]

List of twin towns and sister cities in India: Hello, thank you for pointing out my mistake of not writing a proper edit summary. My concern is that (i) Rajasthan Patrika is not an unreliable source and (ii) the article of Oklahoma City itself mentions Indore as its sister city also does reports of Dainik Bhaskar and nai Duniya. Please remove the 'unreliable source'tag. Thanks Mr.vivek0305 (talk) 20:00, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mr.vivek0305: I do not doubt the reliability of the publisher Rajasthan Patrika, but the fact that your citation does not refer to an online source (as it says in the {{rs}} template!). So your statement still stays a simple claim, but proves nothing. And the fact that you use the Oklahoma City article in order to prove your claim AFTER you have been adding Indore to Oklahoma's sister cities list by yourself (sic!) is simply brazen (and rediculous). So it is very close to a WP:HOAX. Especially given by the fact that Oklahoma's sister cities are published by one single and official source, namely by Sister Cities International. And SCI does not mention Indore.
SO, as long as you are not able to cite a checkable source, I will remove it. -- ZH8000 (talk) 13:43, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
