Anime / CGI / Cartoons

[edit]

Are we allowed to include animes, cartoons, and other CGI movies and shows or are sticking to live action only? For instance Souten Kouro is an anime about Cao Cao's rise in the Three Kingdom period. Can that be added or should stuff like that be excluded?--68.5.105.161 (talk) 09:48, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Zhivago

[edit]

Can Doctor Zhivago be considered a Russian Revolution movie? Dudtz 8/8/06 6:39 PM EST

I consider it as a Russian Revolution film because the Russian Revolution is the primary backdrop of the film. Though it a Romance, the characters lives are changed by it and the narrative's outcome is shaped by those events. The Revolution is in many ways a character of the film. I think it should be included. Trippz (talk) 06:37, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Documentaries list vanished / deleted

[edit]

Has anyone noticed: Someone has deleted the article on the list of documentaries on the war in Iraq. Dogru144 03:08, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brotherhood of the Wolf

[edit]

Once again Brotherhood of the Wolf has been added to section Seven Years' War and French and Indian War. This film does not cover any war material and there is only a somewhat silly reference to one Kung-fu fighting Native American and a former French soldier. The film is set in France, not the Americas and it takes place after the war. On top of that its a "werewolf" film not a War Film. No war material is covered and it is not central to the plot of the film. If an argument can be made to include it in a list of war films, please address it here. table of contents

[edit]

it is extremely silly to organize this as a long string of h2 sections sorted alphabetically by "name of the war" (especially when that name begins with "war"). This badly needs a re-organization by era (antiquity, medieval, early modern, modern). --dab (𒁳) 17:32, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the list should be chronological not alphabetical```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richrakh (talkcontribs) 08:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IM finally starting to do this after 11 years. I think we should divade the modern times further its more than half the article. DoctorHver (talk) 15:48, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Valkyrie

[edit]

What about the 2008 film Valkyrie? Can it also be classified as a war film? --Hornet94 talk 18:04, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it ain't no comedy.````—Preceding unsigned comment added by Richrakh (talkcontribs) 08:15, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kurtulus mini series added.

[edit]

I added the Turkish mini series Kurtulus under the section Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922). I made this decision due to the fact that Lions of Gallipoli (Turkish war movie) is listed under World War 1.

I did a quick search on the net and found the following references which give ample evidence to the existence of this war movie / mini series production.

http://www.amazon.com/Kurtulus-Bir-Bagimsizlik-Savasi-Destani/dp/B001DD0P44/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1292416955&sr=1-1 http://www.imdb.com/company/co0045154/

Kurtulus also holds the current record of being the most expensive Turkish war movie production to date. AussieSkeptic82 (talk) 12:47, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Big Fish

[edit]

Is Big Fish really able to be considered a Korean War movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.187.219.73 (talk) 13:03, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown Movie

[edit]

Hey, Im looking for a british war film that takes place in bejing (I think). I watched in history class several years ago. But it had a british troop regiment defending a fort in china. But all I remember is a part where there was a burning cart of hay being pushed at the chinese people and a custom cannon one of the brit's made. so if anyone has any info on this movie can you please e-mail me at zephspacer@yahoo.com Thanks!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Zephspacer (talk) • contribs) 03:01, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting

[edit]

Someone has to sort this by period preferably, otherwise it is impossible to follow. See List of historical drama films to which maybe it should be even merged since they seem redundant.--Codrin.B (talk) 20:50, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Ireland Conflict

[edit]

Does this count as a war? There are certainly plenty of films about it. 79.217.74.27 (talk) 00:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WorldCat Genres

[edit]

Hello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of war-films. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks. Time periods

[edit]

This list should be navigated by time periods, the list as its currnetly set up is to over long and hard to navigate so sliting it up by time periods, makes lot of sense. I was thinking Ancient History, Middle Ages, Early Modern history, modern history, beside the fact that various wars are grouped together when they obviously don't fit the varius time periods they are set in such as various chinese wars that are grouped together that range form very ancient times to basicly modern wars such as the Opium wars. DoctorHver (talk) 14:39, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer former version. Because it was easy to search on all periods. Propatriamori (talk) 12:20, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the effort to organize this, but I'm not convinced splitting it into multiple pages is the right approach, and this particular division is odd. Very few people would know what "The Age of Extremes: The Short 20th Century," which is a phrase used mainly by just one author, is referring to, not to mention it doesn't even line up with the division here, being split in two. I would be in favor of reverting this change and discussing a better solution before implementing it. Maybe every war doesn't need to be a heading. Maybe it should be a sortable table, with time period and conflict as columns. I came to this page hoping for it to be organized by production/release date. Craig Butz (talk) 21:15, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This condensed version has made the list useless for analysis. I submit motion to restore this list to its prior state.Lostinlodos (talk) 00:24, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
