What happened to the article(s)?

[edit]

Could someone please direct me to where the discussion took place that resulted in the haphazard meshing of several independant articles into this gigantic mess? It looks as if not only were these pages thrown together, but a lot of information was lost in the process. (Path of Radiance section, I'm looking at you here...) If the individual game articles were that bad, it would have been better to improve them one at a time. Furthermore, this article is 27 pages long when printed, an excessive amount by any standard. --Tjstrf 05:23, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would anyone mind if I added some character pictures? --Barrylocke 11:23, 26 April 2006

Don't add them unless they are truly and absolutely necessary, this article is huge already. And I still want to know WHY all the pages were merged. --Tjstrf 20:35, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Zxcvbnm, the article's creator, was responsible for the haphazard meshing of several independent articles into this big mess, and calling those independent articles "cruft." I do not trust him as an editor in the Fire Emblem sector. I am the main editor of the Fire Emblem sector of Wikipedia, and he turned some of the articles on Lord characters into redirects to the Fire Emblem game articles. The explanation added by Zxcvbnm constitutes a making of a very long article. I will have to keep an eye on Zxcvbnm. I edited the explanation written by Zxcvbnm, so that it does not violate Wikipedia policy since it would constitute an establishment of an excessively long article. Long character articles, as such Ayra (Fire Emblem) (which is six pages long when printed) should not merge with this article, because they would clog up this article. This article should be divided by the casts of individual Fire Emblem games. As the main editor of the Fire Emblem sector of Wikipedia, I will not allow Zxcvbnm to vandalize the Fire Emblem sector. He should be under surveillance in the Fire Emblem sector of Wikipedia. The individual articles are NOT as bad as Zxcvbnm says they are. If he bothers any of the Fire Emblem related articles I started, I will get angry at him.

Here is the original version of the explanation that Zxcvbnm posted: "This article is intended to include the minor characters from all the games in one place, rather than having to clog up the main article pages or have many separate character pages for each series. All separate character pages (cruft) or groups of character pages should redirect here."

I disagree with that explanation, as it constitutes letting the article clog up into a big mess, and it sounds contradictory. Lot of information about some characters will be lost if edits are done to comply with the explanation. A lot of information was lost in the edit process by Zxcvbnm, but I manage to recover it. Zxcvbnm wrongly called it cruft, and he has contradicted himself.

Grrr... and I suppose it'll be up to others to fix up the mess I tried to recover some of the old information, but I only found part of it.

BTW, should we start work on some of the parts that are incomplete? Namely, FE4 2nd Generation, FE 1/3, FE5, and FE6? I know a fair bit about the FE6 character, so I suppose I can start that one... 72.38.187.62 14:09, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, we're leaving this page intact then? Personally, I'd reccomend we divide it back into the old articles, simply based on the obscene length. --Tjstrf 21:06, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in favor of re-separating the articles back to their former parts. An article of this length is just bound to become unwieldy (or moreso than it already is). The problem is keeping cruft-boy from trying to reorganize things again.Hailinel 01:34, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Then let's just break the thing back into parts again. He seems to have merged without any notice or collaboration, so this would basically be a gigantic revert for vandalism. --Tjstrf 21:29, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not experienced enough with Wikipedia's editor to perform a revert of this magnitude. I'll trust this task with you or someone of comparable experience.--Hailinel 07:03, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. However, since when the articles are reverted, all the changes that have been made since the merging will be reverted along with it, I could use some help copyediting and making sure that no major additions of info are deleted by accident. Basically, if you could just read them over afterwards to make sure I didn't screw anything up, that would be good. --Tjstrf 08:44, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I'll do what I can. --Hailinel 20:59, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh, I can find so many misspellings and missing words in this... It's long, it's badly spelled, it's terrible. Minimoose 19:24, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly why we must improve it, and put it in seperate articles again. They should each be individual articles for each game, like the Final Fantasy character lists are. 24.42.246.206 03:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So... FE9 and FE4 are put into seperate articles again. I hope that, soon, we can disband this list altogether, and simply have character lists for each of the games (except maybe have 1 and 3 share a list) 24.42.246.206 23:13, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I think that should solve things for now.

[edit]

As you can see, the article now simply refers to the characters from Fire Emblem 7 and has been retitled to reflect that fact. Let's try to keep it this way, ladies and gents. --Hailinel 19:36, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This section seems very biased.

[edit]

Instead of opinioning the characters in-game, it should be how their story goes.
