Reformatting

[edit]

I'm thinking of adding an introductory sentence and headings to this list, as per other disambiguation pages. However, I've tested this out and it seems to make the page look cluttered. With this in mind, would this list be better with these changes or without? --Andrew (My talk) 23:34, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shipwrecks

[edit]

I think the link to list of shipwrecks is inappropriate here. This is a list of disasters. However, list of shipwrecks only list maritime disasters where the remains have been found. The fact that no one ever found the remains doesn't make it any less of a disaster. It should probably link to the list of disasters by death toll. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.113.110.53 (talk) 03:12, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn’t pandemics be listed on here too?

[edit]

Not sure why they wouldn’t be considered disasters. Also noticing there isn’t a list of Global disasters in the “by location” list at the bottom. Lots of possibilities for improvement. My editing tools aren’t good (iPad) but I could help with updates. I haven’t been logging in often lately so Email me? DrMel (talk) 00:31, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Any Interest in a Disasters Timeline

[edit]

I'm just a sucker for timelines. I'd love a master table that sorts disasters by date and category, but I noticed that WP Disaster management set the goal of having only this be the only inventory page. It's just that I'd like to sort by chronology, not necessarily just by subject. And I guess that's a larger problem with lists, you could make a case for doing the whole list by subject, date, location, or maybe other criteria. I'm partial to date, but it would be best if somehow we could sort by any on a whim. And I guess if you were looking something up by subject or location, having the master list be established by date or date sections would be a limitation for those users instead.

So is there a way we can get all of those sorting methods on one list? Would it be better to have a separate Timeline article? Any way we can have our cake and eat it too? Baltarstar (talk) 20:19, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
