Needed Additions

[edit]

My proposal is to add more details about Carpenter’s early life and influences - how did she become so involved in the Women’s Movement? What were her specific motivations and sources of inspiration? Carpenter's birth and early years in Salado really shaped and influenced her life. Her birthplace and ancestry defined her strong beliefs, identity, and impact in the equal rights movement. For example, Carpenter's great aunt, Louella Robertson Fulmore, was also an activist for equal education for women. Many of Carpenter's ancestors were advocates for equal rights; it was her family's legacy that nurtured and prepared her to participate in the movement. Perhaps this article could also dedicate a section listing Carpenter's books. Under each book, it could address where her inspiration sprouted. For example, in Carpenter's book Unplanned Parenthood, it began after she became a surrogate mother for her brother's three pre-teen/teenage children at the age of 70.
