Requested move 1 September 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved as proposed. The assertion that "Loev" is one of the common names of Loyew is unsourced and not mentioned in the article. (closed by non-admin page mover) Bradv 19:44, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Loev (film)Loev – "Loev" currently redirects to "Loyew", which is not spelt the same way (the other spelling for the town is "Loyev") and the article does not mention the spelling "Loev" anywhere. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:52, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Belorussian romanization is not constant. Loev in books still refers to the region or town "The Yurovichy, Khoiniki, Bragin, Loev and Rechitsa regions were also studied." not to this film. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:39, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • If that is the case, please add the spelling "Loev" to the Loyew article, along with source(s). --Kailash29792 (talk) 08:42, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I agree with Kailash29792 here. This isn't the first time I encounter redirects to articles which don't mention that redirected name. If that Town is called "Loev" it should a) be mentioned in the article and b) supported by sources and if there aren't any sources then it shouldn't even redirect to it. --Gonnym (talk) 09:06, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the featured article seems much more notable than the town. Hell, I'd even argue that a misspelled Love is more likely than that town. --Gonnym (talk) 09:06, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral: Here comes a thought - how about having a disambiguation page held at the basename of Loev? That way, anyone looking for the film, the town, or those who've misspelled "Love" can all be directed to the correct locations, instead of there being a primary topic. (Not sure about which name is used more often for the town though.) Paintspot Infez (talk) 01:07, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have no problem with that. --Gonnym (talk) 06:28, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per pageviews [1], by which the film still has 207 daily views (despite being released in 2015) while the town has 4, making it a clear WP:PTOPIC. And this is not even a common alternative spelling of the town. This is a WP:TWODABS situation, and the dab page is neither necessary nor convenient for anyone.
