It makes sense to me to merge Barrio Logan, San Diego, California and Logan Heights, San Diego, California. They appear to be two names for the same place. A redirect would be sufficient. -Willmcw 23:48, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

sounds good. I'll do it when I get home from work--Rockero 00:11, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I also removed the stub tag. I hope this is OK because there is a more detailed history in the Chicano Park article.--Rockero 01:38, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Around the turn of the century, "Barrio Logan," was part of Logan Heights. It was where most of the Mexican American and Mexican immigrant people lived in Logan Heights. Logan Heights did not take its name from a "Logan Heights" street." Logan Avenue, as well as Logan Heights, was specifically named after John Logan. Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, and Memorial are all different neighborhoods (politically/geogrphically speaking), but MOST of the residents refer to all three neighborhoods as Logan Heights. The same can be said of Sherman Heights and Shelltown. Most residents of Sherman Heights also lump Grant Hill and Stockton together with Sherman Heights, even though all three are separate neighborhoods. And, most residents of Shelltown, Southcrest, and Mountain View consider the three separate neighborhoods as Shelltown. Some of the neighborhood nomenclature might have been influenced by the long standing gangs in those neighborhoods. Varrio Logan Heights (Red Steps, 13 Locos, 30th Street, and 33rd Street), a gang in that area controls the neighborhoods of Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, and Memorial. The Barrio Sherman (20th Street, 27th Street, Grant Hill Park Locos) gang controls Sherman Heights, Grant Hill, and part of Stockton. Varrio Shelltown (38th Street, Gamma Boys) controls Southcrest, Shelltown, and part of Mountain View. 71.10.224.148 (talk) 20:12, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
