From the article: "Logic Express 7 is a program for music production developed by Apple and based on Logic Pro 6". Well, I guess any software >v.1.0 is based on a previous version. Is there something important behind the fact that it is "based on Logic Pro 6" or can we delete that part? Peter S. 00:39, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mixdown?

[edit]

What does the main article mean when it uses the word "mixdown"?

The relevant paragraph is given here as:

"Logic Pro and Express share most functionality and the same interface. Logic Express is limited to two-channel stereo mixdown, while Logic Pro can handle multichannel"

Does it mean there is some kind of a lossy compression going on? Usually when you combine two frequencies, you are multiplying the frequencies against each other. (This results in a lot of beats or harmonics, if I am using the right word.) What does "mixdown" mean here? Is there some kind of frequency clipping also, like running the product through a filter?

My understanding is that Express could only generate stereo audio files whereas Logic Pro could create 5.1 and 7.1 surround mixes.[1] -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 21:20, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
