Fair use rationale for Image:Mtrlaing-logo.png[edit]

Image:Mtrlaing-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Change of name[edit]

MTR Laing has changed its name to London Overground Rail Operations Ltd Marcgr 09:34, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for redirect[edit]

From [1]: "London Overground Rail Operations Ltd (formerly known as MTR Laing)".

In summary MTR Laing has been rebranded as London Overground Rail Operations Ltd. Therefore there is no need for this page, as all information is now covered on the London Overground page, including details on the operator, and the change of name. --Jorvik 13:49, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I beg to differ, "MTR Laing" have in recent years bid for several rail franchise, with only the Overground bid being successful. thus historically, its important to keep have an MTR Laing page describing not just their overground efforts, but their other attempts, even in unsuccessful (and i would guess they will bid again at further rail franchise opertunites). LOROL merge suggestion[edit]

I suggest the merge as the company seems to be trading fully as LOROL, is no longer part-owned by Laing, and MTR Laing only existed for about 6 months before being bought out. Unless the former company has a long and illustrious history, it would seem less confusing to stick everything in LOROL, with a bit in its history about the former name.Wikidwitch (talk) 18:34, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed - even if the company did have more of a history, it would still be misleading to have two articles just because it had changed its name. David Arthur (talk) 19:52, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that a merger of MTR Laing into LOROL makes sense, as there is very little additional info in the former article (apart from the defunct logo). -- MightyWarrior (talk) 13:22, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If it was purely a change of name (or amounts to that in practice) then a single article is appropriate to what is a single entity. A redirect and a "History" section ought to take care of it adequately--MBRZ48 (talk) 02:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC).[reply]

error[edit]

If "LOROL was formed in 2007 as MTR Laing", how could it have bid for the Thameslink franchise in 2005? Should it read that LOROL was formed from MTR Laing in 2007? If so, when was MTR Laing created?- J.Logan`t: 12:35, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
