Boxscores

[edit]

I think that the boxscores should be removed from this article -- the series summaries boxes are useful, but the boxscores of individual games I don't thnk are notable enough -- way too much detail. -- ArglebargleIV 15:27, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I erased them but left the series summary. :)

I went back and replaced them with a detailed year-by-year win/loss total. it was a lot better than what was up

New Format for Season Results Table

[edit]

I propose we change the season results table to this format. More concise and less redundant. -- TexasDawg (talk) 16:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Year Winning Team Series Record Runs Scored
2001 Texas 3-3 44-28
2002 Houston 4-2 33-32
2003 Houston 4-2 38-27

2005 Texas 4-2 37-19
2006 Houston 4-2 27-17
2007 Texas 4-2 49-28

I'm going to make this change. If anyone wants to put the old table back, here it is. -- TexasDawg (talk) 16:57, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed "Years of Simultaneous Contention" Section

[edit]
  • I have removed the the "years of simultaneous contention" section. This article is way too long already, and that section has several likely Wikipedia guidelines violations (i.e. POV, original research, etc.). The section can be found here. -- TexasDawg (talk) 16:43, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

color scheme

[edit]

Shouldnt red be used for the Rangers and blue for the Astros since MLB uses red for the AL and Blue for the NL? Crd721 (talk) 01:57, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year by Year Results Removed

[edit]

No other rivalry article has this. It takes up way too much space and seems unnecessary. We should model this off the other rivalry articles with history, key moments, etc. This whole thing seems to just be a whole bunch of things put together with no logical flow. Arnabdas (talk) 20:22, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tiebreaker

[edit]

The results table shows the tiebreaker being total runs scored, but I remember hearing the game announcers saying in the past that if the series ties 3-3 then the previous winning team retains the trophy. Obviously, my memory is not a reliable source, but there's also no reference given for runs being a tiebreaker either. Also, when they tied the first year of the series, there had to be some other way (beside the previous year's winner) to determine a winner, so it makes sense that something like total runs would have been used then. Still, if someone could find a source it would be better. --LarryJeff (talk) 17:18, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lone Star SeriesAstros–Rangers rivalry – Now that this is no longer an interleague series, but a full-fledged divisional rivalry since the Astros moved to the AL West, shouldn't this article be renamed to match? --Relisted.innotata 21:59, 2 October 2014 (UTC) 174.21.236.128 (talk) 06:36, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Not necessarily. A full-fledged divisional or conference rivalry can still be known as a series, like the Bedlam Series between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State University. The question is (which should determine this article's title): What do reliable sources call this rivalry now? Zzyzx11 (talk) 06:09, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Most of the article is about the history of the contest, and that's likely to remain true for some time, maybe even forever. (And even if it doesn't remain true, the time to move the article is when the focus of the article becomes the current, rather than historical, rivalry, not before. But I really can't see that happening any time soon.) Andrewa (talk) 10:16, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
