Career[edit]

Really, Lord Farquaad is tricking Princess Fiona into marrying him. --Zachkudrna18@yahoo.com

Is Lord Farquaad a sadist?[edit]

I've been discussing with a few people and they think that Lord Farquaad is a sadist. He acts very sadisticlly towards the Gingerbread Man at the start of the film and he laughs at Shrek when he discovers that Shrek is in love with Fiona. So is Lord Farquaad a sadist?

I'd say he is. 217.171.129.68 (talk) 00:08, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Richard III[edit]

I personally think Farquaad looks a lot like the much-maligned King Richard III. What do you think? I haven't seen the DVD creators' commentary of Shrek; did they mention Richard at all there? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.85.180.81 (talk) 04:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Charles V
Well, imho he looks much like Charles V. -- Basilicofresco (msg) 19:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely think the character seems to be largely based on Richard III. He looks much more similar to actual portraits and contemporary depictions of Richard III than Charles V, and closely fits Richard III's frequent portail as an archetypal villain. Specifically his appearance, attire and mannerisms in Richard III (1955 film), an adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III, are strikingly similar. It seems Richard III is much more likely to be a direct inspiration for Lord Faarquad than "Napoleon, Joseph Stalin, Hideki Tojo and even Adolf Hitler" as the page currently lists.

I just came across the article for Bernardo Clesio and the portrait of him with red headgear reminded me of Farquaad. Their faces look a lot alike, except Farquaad's hair is longer and darker, so I could say he resembles Clesio with Richard III's hair. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 20:09, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost?[edit]

Is there a reason why this article is listed under 'Fictional Ghosts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.210.16.160 (talk) 21:47, 1 June 2008 (UTC) he was on mentioned only by someone — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markusizr (talkcontribs) 18:05, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lord Fuckwit?[edit]

It's quite obvious that it was the origin of the name. Shouldn't it be in the article? 124.176.50.51 (talk) 03:48, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, except it sounds like Lord Fuckwad to me.--124.148.172.239 (talk) 10:41, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it sounds more like Fartwad. Jdaniels15 (talk) 14:40, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it's pronounced by someone who normally doesn't pronounce the letter r (for example many people from England, as well as many Americans mocking a snooty accent), it's pretty much exactly "fuckwad". TooManyFingers (talk) 23:07, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
