Expelled from the party or "left"?[edit]

We have a secondary local news source saying that "Alan “Howling Laud” Hope said Lord Toby had been shown the door over attacks on pub firm Wetherspoon’s bid to move into St Ives and on UKIP leader Nigel Farage". User:Bigbadbass is now attempting to add a second primary source from the Loony Party site that uses milder terms ("Lord Toby Jug has declared that he is leaving the Loony fold") so that the article describes Jug both as having been "expelled" and having "left". If we have both a primary and a secondary take on what happened, we should use the secondary. We should certainly never use a self-published source to support an assertion about a third party. (The Loony Party site also includes a statement about Jug being dismissed, and an apology for his actions while a member of the party, so I don't think this is a case of a secondary source misrepresenting the situation.) --McGeddon (talk) 09:35, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
