Wrong name for the marquis de Champcenetz

[edit]
  • In looking for additional information for this page, I went to Wikipédia en français, Wikipedia en español, and Wikimonde; and all three identify his name as "Jean Louis Quentin de Richebourg" [using b.& d. as verifiers].
  • Somewhere in English Wikiland I saw a note saying Louis René Quentin de Richebourg, Chevalier de Champcenetz was his namesake, which may be a self-perpetuating error. Louis René was the 2nd son of the marquis who was executed by guillotine in 1794 and who is credited by some contributors as the male in the Thomas Gainsborough photo (I have a comment into the Knoles on this issue as well). The oldest son, and heir to the title, was Louis-Pierre Quentin de Richebourg [22 September 1754 - 4 May 1822].
  • A third question is whether it was Louis-Pierre fil (documented in Wikipédia en français) or Jean Louis/Louis René per (documented in English Wikipedia) who escaped with the help of the Duc d'Orleans and Grace Elliot.
