Native American flute[edit]

Has Ballard composed for the Native American flute? Brent Michael Davids has said Ballard has a solo part for the instrument in the 1961 work for narrator and orchestra entitled "Why the Duck Has a Short Tail," but I've just examined the score several times and can find no instance where this instrument is called for (though it does call for two concert flutes, the second doubling on piccolo).
