Lowboy as restaurant terminology for waist high fridge

[edit]

Lowboy is also used in restaurant terminology in the US to refer to those refrigerators that are below counter tops or are only waste high (in which case the top can work as a countertop. 71.57.186.90 (talk) 21:51, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Tom in Florida[reply]

Wrong title

[edit]

"A lowboy is an American collectors term for a dressing table, or vanity" - in other words, it is generally known as a dressing table in the rest of the world, and a vanity, or vanity table, in the U.S. Why is the article named by a term used mainly by American collectors? I propose that this article be moved to "Dressing table" and that "Lowboy" should be a redirect pointing here. David_FLXD (Talk) 18:12, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes & no - what we need is a proper article on dressing tables. The ideal source is: Adlin, Jane, with contributions from Lori Zabar, Vanities: art of the dressing table, reprint from the Bulletin of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fall 2013, Volume LXXI, number 2, 2013, Metropolitan Museum of Art, downloadable PDF Johnbod (talk) 14:12, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am writing an article right now. A stub is available at User:Викидим/Dressing table. Thank you for the link (I actually have a paper copy). Викидим (talk) 05:53, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong redirect from 'dressing table'

[edit]

Tried to get to 'dressing table', but was redirected to a specific type of dressing table rather than an actual page for information on dressing tables. not good organization here. 173.72.178.66 (talk) 18:46, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
