Notability?

[edit]

Does this individual meet the notability requirements in Wikipedia:Notability (people)? I was under the impression that state-level legislators weren't necessarily notable. Probably a gray area, but I'm wondering how this is interpreted with respect to this article? JRP (talk) 23:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:POLITICIAN, part of the “Other Criteria” for WP:BIO: People who have held international, national or first-level sub-national political office, including members of a legislature and judges. So, state legislators (i.e. first-level sub-national member of a legislature) are pretty much always considered notable. And even if they were not, notice the multiple independent WP:RS, including his own entries in the encyclopedia like Dictionary of Oregon History, Pen Pictures of Representative Men of Oregon, and History of the Columbia River Valley From The Dalles to the Sea, thus in all likelihood this entry would pass the general WP:N guideline. Good enough. I had an article that I did, I think it was about a New York state senator, that was AFDed once. Glad to see that the requirements aren't quite as rigid. JRP (talk) 02:43, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
