Ludwig Karl, or Ludwig Paul - or both?[edit]

Although the article is titled Ludwig Karl Koch, the opening sentence explains that he was Ludwig Paul Koch. Does the name really appear in both forms, or is this a slip? Eebahgum (talk) 00:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ref #1 does not deliver, so we are faced with a situation. He lived for a long time in England, and unless he claimed to be "Paul" (I am sure he did not), then I suggest we return to the more likely Karl without comment, and delete the inactive reference. Alternatively, we could eliminate the middle name, but I do see that there is an ambiguity if we do so. This might be removed of we chose a adjectival parenthesis, such as: Karl Ludwig ("birdsong" or "animal sounds"). Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:57, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for his birth certificate and was able to locate it in the archive mentioned in the first source link. His fathers name is Karl Theodor Koch (if I can read it correctly) and his mothers name is Auguste Koch but I have trouble to decipher her maiden name. I hope that helps. Teaching morse[edit]

@MarkMLl Probably not. I only find german sources, but it seems to be a different Koch who has been working at the technical university of Braunschweig Germany in 1936. Ludwig Koch: Arbeitspsychologische Untersuchung der Tätigkeit bei der Aufnahme von Morsezeichen, zugleich ein neues Anlernverfahren für Funker. In: Zeitschrift für angewandte Psychologie und Charakterkunde, Band 50, Heft 1 und 2, Februar 1936.

This is the source for his morse publication i found on the web.

In the german list of Ludwig Kochs you can find him under Ludwig Koch (Ingenieur) (1901-??) where it is also stated that he was in the SA. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_Koch

@Festucalex: The common name seems to be Ludwig Koch, but the subject isn't the WP:PTOPIC. It's a case of WP:NATDIS. In light of that I'm not sure how to resolve a case like this. WPscatter ^t/_c 16:01, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In articles and the BBC piece about him he is also always just refered to as Ludwig Koch.

I am puzzled to where Karl comes from cause there is no evidence of him having the name Karl.

The only source for Paul Ludwig is from his birth certificate. So I would suggest to either Move to Paul Ludwig Koch or just Ludwig Koch. Cpitschke (talk) 07:22, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Ludwig Koch (sound recordist). Seems to have been his WP:COMMONNAME. WP:NATDIS doesn't apply to people.
