Translation: I was born Ludovicus (Louis) Scheeffer, in Regiomontium in Prussia on the first of June, 1859 to my father Louis and mother Mathilda, from the family Broscheit I was part of the evangelical faith. I studied at the gymnasium of the Old City of Regiomontanae, and then after my father died at the Frederich gymnasium of Berlin. In 1875, I was accepted as a student at the beloved university of letters, called Frederick Wilhelm (or William). I studied for four years there, except two semesters at Heidelberg and Leipzig, focusing on studies in mathematics, physics, philosophy of the works of Borchardt, Helmholtz, G. Kirchhoff, Kummer, Kronecker, Weierstrass, Zeller. I will always retain the most grateful memories of these most revered men.
