The architect Andres Casillas, also from Guadalajara, worked with Luis Barragan for a period of five years. The work of Andres Casillas is widely considered the most faithful to the spirit of the ideas of Luis Barragan. Until recently Andres Casillas has done all of his work in Mexico, and most of it are private residences although he has done some large buildings as well, such as the bank Banamex building in Guadalajara. He is currently undertaking a major single residence in off form exposed concrete in Melbourne,Australia and this represents his first residence outside of Mexico. On the other hand, the most commonly known architect to have done buildings that resemble the ideas of Barragan is Ricardo Legorreta. He has done a lot of large buildings in a lot of countries in Latin America, the United States, and in some other far away places such as Spain and Japan. Mr. Legorreta did meet Luis Barragan on some occasions but never worked with him. Academic circles in architecture consider his work not at ground breaking or as well thought out as is Luis Barragan's or Andres Casillas. However, they are of a better quality than that of a lot of commercial firms who typically do such large commisions.

This has been moved from the main article because it seems highly speculative and most of it belongs elsewhere. It should be reviewed and POV statements removed or referenced. I also question the bits about Louis Kahn, but I have left that in the article. Any thoughts? Mariokempes 20:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've now modified the part on Louis Kahn- His collaboration does not appear supported, but I left in his "role" complete with a reference. This could be considered for deletion or moved to the article on the Salk Institute. Mariokempes 17:16, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heritage Site

[edit]

Is Luis Barragán's House and Studio the only individual studio or house that has been named a Wiorld Heritage Site? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.30.8.247 (talk) 00:43, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More, better pictures

[edit]

Need better pictures, like this http://www.designmuseum.org/__entry/3825?style=design_image_popup. You can not illustrate his work without good pictures.

The portrait photo is accidentally reversed left-to-right (see the jacket buttons and pocket square). Someone please fix this.

Ashes turned into a diamond

[edit]

Should something about the dispute about a portion of Barragán's ashes being turned into a synthetic diamond be added? (See: [1]) Apparently, the transformation partially inspired Foals' new album according to this report from the BBC. JezGrove (talk) 19:55, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
