Cantat[edit]

Re this [1] - my apologies, I didn't realize, and the article has no info on the fact that the prison is (or was until recently) still operational, so I thought the list of notable persons was those imprisoned during WWII and before that. Since however, the article is about the history of the prison perhaps at least we could put dates into the article as to when each of these notable persons was imprisoned there? famous prisoners - in text or in their own section[edit]

It looks like Menachem Begin was by far the most famous/notable prisoner of the prison and as such perhaps his imprisonment should be properly included in the main text of the article - if possible, along with the circumstances of his imprisonment - rather than just in a list of "notable prisoners". NOT A BENTHAMITE DESIGN The text as it stands states that "The project was inspired by Jeremy Bentham's idea of Panopticon, and was based on the design of Kresty Prison in Sankt Petersburg, which in turn was modelled after Moabit Prison in Berlin and the Holmesburg Prison and Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia." But these prisons were NOT panopticons, they were "separate system" prisons, a totally different design, most famously exemplified in Pentonville Prison. To be a panopticon, a prison has to be circular (not simply cross-shaped), with cells arrayed liked the spokes of a wheel with a surveilence-cum-guard post at the hub giving a view into every cell.
