Attempts at quad lutz
[edit]I added the quad attempts by Weiss and Plushenko because attempts at the jump are very rare, and noteworthy. Vesperholly 07:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- But the two instances you listed are far from the only ones ever attempted. Weiss attempted quad lutzes at several other events throughout his career and had been landing them in practice as well. A Ukrainian skater named Evgeny Pliuta was also attempting to do them ca 1997, and I recall hearing that Elvis Stojko was practicing them around the same time. As far as Plushenko is concerned, I saw him with my own eyes land a perfect quad lutz in practice at the 2003 World Championships. More recently, Parker Pennington is said to have a quad lutz now. Personally, my feeling is that trying to list all unsuccessful competition attempts quickly becomes pointless, and that claims about practice attempts do not meet the Wikipedia:verifiability requirement. Far better just to avoid this whole can of worms and just wait for someone to verifiably land a clean one in competition. Dr.frog 12:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- I get your point. But competition attempts are official and verifiable - especially now with COP. What other events did Weiss attempt quad lutzes in? Practice attempts are, as you say, a can of worms that is best not opened, which is why I didn't include mention of them. *shrug* Vesperholly 08:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Does quad mean something else in ice skating
[edit]Looking at the video of Brandon Mroz in slomo, I see him facing the camera 3 times in the air before landing. How does that equal a quadruple Luts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.62.88.36 (talk) 17:28, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit]14-year old Russian figure skating prodigy Alexandra Trusova has placed the first-ever female quad Lutz during a junior GP contest in Lithuania, according to Alexander Gorchkov, head of the Russian Figure Skating Association. Bravo! :) 195.67.149.175 (talk) 15:18, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
