The result of the move request was: moved. (closed by non-admin page mover) Polyamorph (talk) 13:46, 12 November 2023 (UTC) Closing remarks: Given the lack of an established WP:COMMONNAME in English, consensus is to use the most widely accepted name, as described in English language geographic databases (GNS) and maps (Google/Apple maps). Krasnyi Oktiabr, Donetsk Raion, Donetsk OblastLypske – This village has no established name or WP:COMMONNAME in English - I searched on Google and found zero English-language references to it under either name. In the absence of a common name, we should use the official Ukrainian government name per WP:UAPLACE, which has been Lypske since 2016. See consensuses at Talk:Bunhe and Talk:Khrustalnyi for similar precendents. HappyWith (talk) 00:36, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I object applying UAPLACE to localities which have never held by Ukraine after they have been renamed. You can only rename something you control, otherwise the rename is just on paper and does not affect the locality in any way. Ymblanter (talk) 08:44, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support. WP:WIAN recommends references including GNS search,[1] which gives name Lypske (variant names Krasnyi Oktiabr and Krasnyy Oktyabrʹ), and maps such as Google Maps which gives Lypske,[2] and Apple Maps which gives Lypske.[3] This only confirms the usefulness of the subordinate guideline UAPLACE, whether we use it for this subject’s name or not. —Michael Z. 20:00, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per researched nomination and Michael Z. The settlement is unquestionably in Ukraine, therefore the main title header of its English Wikipedia entry should depict its Ukrainian name. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 06:40, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
