Please start the Lysimeter article with a more general definition, something like "Instrument to collect and measure water percolating through soil, to allow measurement of its soluble contents". Currently, the article only describes the evapotranspiration measurement (e.g. with a soil container on a balance). That is well written, but evapotranspiration measurements are only a special use of "Lysimeter", and this doesn't account for "Lysi" in the word.
Please expand on the non-weighing lysimeter. Karl Missouri (talk) 17:41, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
