does anybody else find the following statement rather non-NPOV?

"The fact that Newton Mearns lay in the middle of a Tory-controlled constituency however ensured that the Tory Government of the day pushed the motorway construction through to approval despite this opposition."

Who was the MP in question? I think it needs mention. It's not like there will be any legal issues, as the events should be a matter of public record.

Eastwood MP Allan Stewart, see East Renfrewshire (UK Parliament constituency). An "interesting" chap, but I'd better not defame him on a public forum. However, it is a matter of public record (several newspaper headlines in fact) that he "swung an axe" at a group of motorway protestors in some woodland, which I seem to recall led to the tarnishing of his reputation.--Mais oui! 11:19, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the part about people on the M77 having to drive through Paisley to get to Glasgow Airport, because it is not in fact true. Drivers from the M77 can in fact leave the M8 at the Kinning Park offramp, turn right and then right again and join the M8 westbound, heading towards Glasgow Airport. We also REALLY need to find a citation for the accusation about Allan Stewart - since it is potentially defamatory if untrue. Cynical 22:24, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
