Reactors called MERLIN[edit]

MERLIN seems to have been the name of at least two reactors, both of them pool-type reactors in the EU.

FRJ-1 (Merlin) at Jülich Research Centre, 10 MWt, operated 1962-1985

Merlin Aldermaston (UK), 5 MWt, operated 1959-1962

(this from the european parliament website).

The Aldermaston pile seems particularly significant, as this website claims it was Britain's first privately-owned nuclear reactor for scientific research. Andrewa 03:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
