Factual Errors[edit]

The MIM-46 Mauler was NOT a "self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system" as stated in the introduction to this article. 'MIM' stands for "mobile interceptor missile" i.e. the Mauler was just the actual missile. The missiles were mounted to a launch assembly fitted to a M113 APC, but the configured vehicle/system was NOT the MIM-46 - that was the XM546 Tracked Fire Unit.

I suggest that the person(s) responsible for writing/maintaining this article go back and study the correct US Army technical manuals, and sources such as http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-46.html and https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/mim-46.htm which clearly state what the Mauler and associated components of the system were.

Sorry, but I am sick and tired of seeing (and correcting!) poorly written factually incorrect articles appearing as gospel.

@Blammy1: Wikipedia is written by volunteers just like you, so please try to control your attitude. Rather, try to improve the articles, sourcing them to reliable published sources, with as little complaining. As long as Wikipedia is the "Encyclopedia anyone can edit", anyone will, and we can't control what they will add. That includes everything from pure vandalism to extremely well written and cited edits, and a lot of misinformation, political and other POV pushing, and people adding stuff that's just plain wrong, plus all the English-language illiterates who have no business editing here, but do anyway. If you can't handle that, then find a new hobby. (I'm not saying that to be mean; I quit editing for almost a year because of the constant vandalism, but I came back, as I couldn't find a hobby I liked better.) Yeah well when I do edit pages and cite appropriate references, some people dispute what I have written and even rollback my changes... Blammy1 (talk) 23:01, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The edit I reverted wasn't cited, and citing a source doesn't exempt people from disputing it. But that isn't relevant here. BilCat (talk) 23:15, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
