The Mirimar Ship Index contains an entry on this IMO number. It appears the ship was named the Olive Maru No.1 when it was built in Japan in 1972. More details on the ship's rename, weight, etc. here. --Canley (talk) 00:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The owners are quoted as saying that the vessel had been "highly maintained". Can that quote be confirmed, since the expression is very bad English, and quite meaningless.JohnC (talk) 07:33, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History and Loss[edit]

This article needs to be re-written in the light of the Royal Commission report published in April 2010 ^[1]

This showed the vessel to have been in a very poor state of repair and to have been declared beyond economic repair and unfit for further service by a Fijian surveyor in December 2008, that it was designed for use in smooth waters only, and that all three inspecting surveyors in Tonga, plus the insurance assessor, considered the vessel unseaworthy.
