Although a few websites (such as the one cited in the article) give a space in Ma's name, the is not the accepted convention for pinyin names generally or on Wikipedia (WP:NCZH). I looked through the published sources and found three examples of his name spelled according to the generally accepted convention of spacing pinyin by words ([1], [2], [3]) and none spaced by syllable.
