Formatting questions

Questions on three things:

  1. Should "EP" be expanded to say "Extended play," since it does not seem to be a well-known acronym?
  2. Should it point to the Wikipedia article on Extended play because it does not seem to be a well-known term?
  3. The three mixtapes link back to this article. Should they even be links?

Correct me if I am mistaken on the population knowing the term extended play. --Battlefield1181 (talk) 11:48, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Merger proposal

Albums or similar do not warrant their own articles unless there is significant coverage. As of now, I have not seen much coverage for it, and thus propose for the article On And On And Beyond, which is currently just a track listing, to be merged directly into the section EPs, where the extended play is listed. See Wikipedia:Notability (music) for more information. --Battlefield1181 (talk) 17:46, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Discography

Hi. This page is protected, so I do not have the ability to edit this, but the mixtape How High: The Mixtape is not a solo mixtape and should be listed like this:

  • How High: The Mixtape (2008) (with The Ill Spoken)

Because the mixtape was in his group The Ill Spoken with Beedie in 2008, that's how it sohuld be listed. Could somewhat who is able to edit the page please add this. TomUSA (talk) 22:40, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Discography

Hi. I can't edit this page because it's protected from new users. But the mixtape How High: The Mixtape is with his group, and is not a solo mixtape. It sohuld be listed in discography like this:

  • How High: The Mixtape (2008) (with The Ill Spoken)

How High: The Mixtape is a group-release with The Ill Spoken which includes Mac Miller and his friend Beedie. Also, there is no listing of the singles he has released such as "Donald Trump" from Best Day Ever, "Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza" from K.I.D.S., "Knock Knock" from K.I.D.S., and so on. And in the Studio albums section it says Best Day Ever: Dope Album. There should be a "citation needed" template next to that. Somebody please note this, TomUSA (talk) 22:44, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Freshman Year of High School

I'm pretty sure Mac Miller was THE hottest kid in his highschool. ←←← True Story Dawg. Pretty sure that Mac Miller didn't actually attend Allderdice as a freshman.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07158/791858-364.stm indicates that he played the spring lacrosse season at Winchester-Thurston.

I think he transferred after that. Going to change this article to not say where he went to high school as a freshman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccheever (talkcontribs) 03:26, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Edit Request

"Knock Knock" is off the mixtape K.I.D.S. and each songs basically has its video , so it should not even be mentioned..

It also says that his most recent mixtape was "Best Day Ever" which is true, but then it says that the singles for that tape are "Senior Skip Day" which is false because Senior Skip Day was on K.I.D.S, not Best Day Ever..

Also, add on to the page that the next video/single for Best Day Ever is the BDE Bonus (as confirmed in an interview) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.64.75 (talk) 14:39, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello,

I was viewing the Mac Miller wikipedia article & noticed an error.

In the "associated acts" column (which is located in the top-right box on the article), somebody linked "Beedie" as an associated act. This is a correct statement, however, it links to an incorrect article. Instead of linking to "Beedie (rapper)", it simply links to "Beedie", which is an article about Indian Cigarettes, not the aforementioned rapper. Please fix! Thank you!

Edit Request: Worst-Written Article Ever

This is the worst-written article I have ever read on Wikipedia. I request that someone with college level writing skills, or who has at least graduated high school, please redo the entire thing so the teacher won't give it a C-. Also, please try to not be high when you redo it. Thanks.Brakoholic (talk) 19:10, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Examples:

"Prior to his 2011 national Blue Slide Park across the U.S. Miller traveled Europe on his "Incredibly Dope Tour" visiting cities such as London, Manchester, Amsterdam and more."

Prior to his 2011 national what? the U.S. Miller what? One of the worst constructed sentences ever put in an "encyclopedia".

"The six-track work was produced by Rostrum Records."

Aren't producers usually people?

"The Ill spoken released their mixtape how high in 2008."

I'm assuming how high was the name, right? Maybe it should be represented as such in the article.

Brakoholic (talk) 19:22, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

K.I.D.S. Article

I have seen the link to the K.I.D.S mixtape album come and go several times. I believe that Best Day Ever (mixtape) was a very significant album in terms of Miller, as well as mixtapes in general, and will therefore stand by it being an article. I do not believe The Highlife is significant. I am on the fence with K.I.D.S, but if it were up to me, I would vote that it was also significant and should be an article.

Can we decide here whether or not it should be an article, and keep it that way?

I vote for because it was significant to Miller's career in terms of gaining fans, and it was a popular/successful mixtape. TheGrimme (talk) 15:41, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

It would be good if you could also back up your vote with a couple of independent sources as per Wikipedia:Notability (music) --Battlefield1181 (talk) 16:02, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Ancestry/ethnicity/religion

There's a number of things we can add to Mac's page if we find them. What kind of Jew is he (Reformed, Conservative, and I doubt he's Hasidic). His surname McCormick is an Irish surname, so is he half Irish half Jewish, or an "Irish Jew"? We need to find these tihngs out because we can add them to the page. TomUSA 18:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

His father passed on the Irish last name, McCormick. His mother is Jewish, and so Jewish law states that he is Jewish. Missed Calls

I think it's time someone should say something about this. While many Mac Miller fans are long anticipating the music video for his song "Missed Calls" it has not yet been released. Earlier this year he released a trailor for the music video, but has since released 3 music videos from Macadelic, not Blue Slide Park. Can someone find a source saying something about the "Missed Calls" video? TomUSA 03:35, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Fontana Records

Someone keeps adding Fontana Records to the infobox. This is also on Wiz Khalifa's article in the "labels" section of the infobox. I have not heard of Mac Miller signing to any new labels other than Rostrum Records as of 2010, however, every time I remove Fontana Records from the page entirely, someone keeps putting it up. Mac Miller is not signed to Fontana Records, only Rostrum Records and his own label Most Dope. TomUSA 21:38, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Best Day Ever and On And On And Beyond

Since Best Day Ever and On And On And Beyond were also released in 2011, shouldn't they be discussed in "2011 - present: Blue Slide Park, Macadelic and Pink Slime" rather than "Career beginnings"? teammathi 18 June 2012, 1:02 (CET) —Preceding undated comment added 22:57, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Merger proposal 2

This is just a repeat of "Merger proposal" above with a few changes: Albums or similar do not warrant their own articles unless there is significant coverage. As of now, I have not seen much coverage for it, and thus propose for the article On and On and Beyond to be merged directly into the section EPs, where the extended play is listed. Even though it may have "entered the Billboard 200 on April 16 2011 at #55," it would make more Wikipedia-sense to mention that in this article rather than have it as a separate article. See Wikipedia:Notability (music) for more information. --Battlefield1181 (talk) 16:25, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I agree. On and On and Beyond was not a significant album, and does not need it's own article. TheGrimme (talk) 16:31, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Mac's genres are not only limited to Hip Hop but Rap and Jazz as well shown in his albums You under the pseudonym of Larry Lovestein and the a Velvet Revival and in his sophomore rap album Watching Movies with the Sound Off. Also under instruments he also plays the drums and guitar, this was exemplified in his latest tour, The Space Migration Tour. Finally, under labels, Mac created his own label REMember Music earlier last year in honor of his late friend with the initials of REM.

Section lengths

I am not familiar with the work of the late Mac Miller but this article seems lop-sided, with his older work having long sections and the new albums getting about a paragraph each. Per the discography page, all of these charted in the higher end of the Billboard charts, so it's not like his career slowed down or he dropped out of the public eye. Should the latter sections have expand tags? Anarcho-authoritarian (talk) 17:48, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Saucy[talkcontribs] 04:19, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

Alleged final girlfriend

Please do not add about his alleged final girlfriend. Not only is this only covered in tabloid sources like OK, Mirror and Lad Bible, it's even disputed by another woman [4]. Per WP:BLP, "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source. Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion". I am sure the world's media are investigating whether this is a real relationship and will publish a story about it if true. Until then, users reserve the right to revert this addition per BLP Anarcho-authoritarian (talk) 16:26, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

Discrepancies

Hello, There are quite a few issues with the ‘Death’ portion on this page, it’s frustrating. I’d like to discuss w wiki or the author for corrections to be made. Out of respect for the deceased, his family , friends and fans. Thank you. WikiusernamePs23 (talk) 01:36, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

First time discussing/chatting on wiki page so not 100% how this works. His friend didn’t call citing cardiac arrest, his friend called 911 and the operator reported it as possible cardiac arrest. He had already passed away when his friend called. He had been deceased for quite a few hours prior to help arriving. Also, there is no news whatsoever I have a funeral taking place. The articles cited stated specifically that the funeral will take place at the cemetery mentioned, not already buried there. How does it work, who wrote the page and locked it. Shouldn’t people be reporting factually if it’s going up on wiki ? I’m smart phone and for some reason unable to read My comment prior to posting. Mac Miller was an American rapper?!

Why is he distinguished as an "American rapper" when other rappers aren't. I'm suggesting we leave it at "was a rapper". If anything he was anti-American.

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXmNk-YPuG4

He was a natural-born American citizen, thus "American rapper". "Other rappers aren't" isn't a valid reason not to include it. StrikerforceTalk 13:48, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Rap came from "Jamaican Toasting", and a Jamacian is credited with starting rap in America. Therefore, "American rapper" seems appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.55.165 (talk) 06:42, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
Just sayin'.... Wikipedia itself says that's not true... Influenced ≠ Initiated.. 47.28.180.228 (talk) 17:30, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Lack of Consistency

There is a lot of explanation on Blue Slide Park and Watching Movies With the Sound Off, however there is very little explanation of his later albums Swimming and Devine Feminine (Mattlong50 (talk) 22:55, 4 October 2018 (UTC))

Mattlong50 I brought this problem up when I first saw this page after his death. These last albums should be expanded because they were of a similar commercial success to the formers. I can only assume that the original main contributor to this page moved on to other projects. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the artist to expand these sections. Article Evaluation (wiki ed)

hello,

I've recently evaluated this article for a class assignment. I've made these following notes about how it could be improved.

-make sure all information is correct.

-look at the talk page because it had some people comment saying some of the stuff was false information.

-even out the sections so easier to read.

Is Mac Miller allowed to have an official web page after he is deceased because he can not run or maintain it? XxMillerMacxX (talk) 11:00, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

His website has continued to be maintained by his estate and/or record label. Unless it becomes inactive, its inclusion is fine. Prefall 11:29, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
