The box says Macrina died in 379, so say some other sources I found. German WP also has 379 so maybe this should be changed. --Proofreader 15:36, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen both 379 and 380 listed in different sources. I'll see if I can research it further. Majoreditor 05:36, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also the birth date in the text and the infobox don't match--FeanorStar7 11:40, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elder/Younger?

[edit]

In notes wouldn't this "His grandmother, Macrina, under whom he received his juvenile education, and his first impressions of piety, had been, in her youth, a hearer of Gregory Thaumaturgus, in Pontus ; for whom she inspired her young scholar with a profound and lasting veneration," be referring to Macrina the Elder?--T. Good monring, some biographical information have been added by this recent academic paper. It is the unique paper to be listed by DOAJ on this subject matter. The conclusion compares virginity to the life of angels, who are created bodiless and invisible by God, and to a sacrifice for the good of the Christ's spouse, which is the Roman Catholic Church itself. Possibly, analogue theological conclusions have to be placed within a separate section. Regards, Theologiansp

Chaste and humble

[edit]

In the intro the article comments that Marina lived a chaste and humble life. This is not particularly distinctive of a saint as all believers should emulate these values. If the article wishes to refer to Macrina’s celibacy it should say so. Revjem (talk) 15:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
