This software is linked into the Defunct companies page? (Why?)

This sofware was developed by Fauve Sofware, San Francisco, and was purchased by Macromedia.

It was the next generation of paint programs following Fauve's Matisse ( black and white only )

The Programmers were: Fredrick Kruger, Chief Architect Richard Kruger Ken Tracton

Ken Eckley, joined from South Carolina, and two Australian software engineers, joined the effort on xRes 3.0 David Michie and Tony Bloomfield.

"xRes, an image processing and paint program developed by Fauve Software for both Power Macs and 680X0 machines, combines a wide range of editing effects and highly customizable brushes with the ability to work quickly on large files in multiple layers with unlimited undos." [1]

Its main competitor was not Adobe Photshop, but was Live Picture.

The Initial version 1.0, was released only in Japan, Tiawan and Singpore, and carried a hardware lock. The subsuquent version 1.1 was not released, due to the aqusition of Fauve by Macromedia, prior to MacWorld Boston. Version 1.1.1 was shown to press, and although shipped to customers as a bug fix to 1.0, and 1.1 customers, it was never released as a standalone product. (This should be corrected. xRes 1 was released. It might have been a limited release but I still have my disk. (I bought it pre 1.0 and was then Hired out of R.I.T. to be on the Devel team for after its purchase by MM) It was xRes 1.5 that was never released in the US. Which is sad because 1.5 was probably the best version of the software.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.16.3.9 (talk) 02:38, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Version 2.0 was released by Macromedia, first with the Macintosh version, followed by the Windows version.

Fredrick Kruger left to form a company called Coda, which created a graphic user interface for java authoring called Random Noise.

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
