Spelling of the Professor's name[edit]

While adding to this article I noticed that the Professor - who is also a real life author has his name spelt in two different ways. The first is Uehida Hyakken-sama, which I saw on The Internet Movie Database and has subsequently copied onto many different Madadayo-related pages across the internet. The second is Uchida Hyakken which I have seen in List of Japanese authors:U and on websites selling his essays.

Is the difference just for the film or is it a Japanese naming issue. I was wondering as I would be interested in creating his page on Wikipedia. Jack 16:53, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uchida Hyakken is the name of an author of approximately fifty books according to the catalog of the Library of Congress, while Uehida Hyakken is not on their file. My guess is that the IMDB is wrong here. "-sama" is an honorific suffix and not part of his name, or any other Japanese name for that matter (cf: Japanese titles). --Thorsen 20:33, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
