Some changes, article seems a bit puffy

[edit]

removed this pargraph:

In college, Campbell's beliefs underwent changes. Initially conservative, she briefly turned to atheism upon entering a liberal campus, although she has since returned to her Roman Catholic roots. During a study abroad period in Edinburgh, Campbell's exposure to the U.K.'s universal health care system compounded with her own sexual assault led her to advocate for the U.S.'s privatized model, and she returned to the U.S. as a libertarian."

Seems pretty unnecessary to say someone's views changed with life experiences, and a pretty clunky way to do so. Also, cited source does not say she returned to her catholic roots. Re: this healthcare thing, wording suggests that her sexual assault occurred in the UK and her exposure to the healthcare system there led her to advocate for the US's model. The source on the other hand, says " Seeing the U.K.’s universal health-care system up close convinced her that Americans’ privatized health care, which had more choices, was superior." in the same paragraph about her changing views in college. Several paragraphs later comes the sexual assault mention "Campbell says she herself was raped in college by a friend who showed up at her dorm late one night and chose not to go to the hospital." Also completely removed "she challenged the school's dress code" because, who cares? If Campbell's notability was largely about her being a contrarian, then maybe include, otherwise just fluff. Also, "challenging the dress code" is a puff-up from what the source said "She learned the pleasures of questioning authority early on, arguing with her middle-school principal over the school’s dress code, which she found unnecessarily restrictive." Maybe if she had a whole campaign going on with signatures, etc, but as described this is just trivia Cannolis (talk) 03:08, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
