Lead section update[edit]

I have rewritten the title section to accurately represent the current industry of the company, since it is no longer a conglomerate. However, I have left the top page warnings in place because some sections of the article (mainly sections on the Energy division) are still to be updated to reflect this. I modified the lede section (little bit) RPSkokie (talk) 03:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maersk and tonnage taxation[edit]

This section is extremely weird and reads like a personal essay with numerous tangents not related to Maersk. For explain, it includes a 3 line sentence about how happy people in Denmark are, and explains the concept of "hygge". The section needs to be cleaned up or removed. Ashmoo (talk) 10:59, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ashmoo, I agree completely - it is really offtopic. I would suggest to remove.
FYI for the sake of transparency, I am a communicator at Maersk, no one at our company had owned the maintenance of these pages for soem time and there a lot of irrelevant or outdated points. Happy to have this section removed, but I wanted to follow correct Wiki proceedures as I beleive I am not supposed ot edit my own company's page? Philip Lewin (talk) 12:57, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2023 temporary suspension / page organisation[edit]

May be a good idea to include their shipping suspension due to Houthi attacks in December 2023. The page however is quite cluttered so I don't want to make any major changes. Perhaps the headings for the subsidiaries, for instance, should be integrated? Tanaya001 (talk) 01:57, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tanaya, thanks for the comment. I think the challenge is the issue is quite complex and it is not only Maersk, most of the major shipping lines are not going through the Red Sea, and some are with support from the peacekeeping force. So a long explanation would be needed, that also includes the history of the attacks and the impact on global shipping. Several suggested updates coming[edit]

Hi Wiki editor, I am part of Maersk's global communications team, we realize that no one has really owned the maintenance of our pages and now there is quite a bit out of date. I will upload a number of suggestions here, if you want to contact me and discuss or clarify anything, my mail is philip.lewin and then Maersk (unfortunately our corporate firewall prohibits me from adding comments from a Maersk device or our office network, so I am entering these from my personal computer at home). There is quite a bit on our website that is obsolete or no longer relevant, outdated or changed, and a fair amount of new stuff too. Happy to chat with you if it helps, and thank you for considering our suggestions. 93.160.24.76 (talk) 12:11, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under the 'History' heading, this proposed revision[edit]

In September 2023, Maersk unveiled Laura Mærsk, the world's first vessel capable of sailing on green methanol. Laura Mærsk is a feeder vessel of 2,100 TEU capacity in service on the Baltic Sea. In June of 2023, Maersk also announced an order for six additional mid-sized container vessels of 9,000 TEU capacity, bringing its total order book to 24 new vessels capable of sailing on green methanol.

In November of 2023, Maersk sign a landmark offtake agreement with Chinese developer Goldwind, a global leader in clean energy. The agreement looks to secure annual volumes of 500KT of green fuels including bio-methanol and e-methanol, all produced utilising wind energy at a new production facility in Hinggan League, Northeast China, around 1000km northeast of Beijing. The first volumes expected in 2026. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:19, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Transport and logistics, Maersk section, propose this addition[edit]

On 15 March, 2022, Robert M. Uggla was appointed Chair of the Board at A.P. Moller – Maersk, succeeding Jim Hagemann Snabe. The appointment marks a generational change in the company. Robert M. Uggla represents the founding family and remains as CEO of A.P. Moller Holding. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:20, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Transportation and logistics, Svitzer, propose this new addition:[edit]

In February 2024, it was announced that Board of Directors of APMM decided to initiate the separation of APMM’s Svitzer towage and marine services activities through a demerger. As part of the demerger, the shares in Svitzer A/S and its subsidiaries as well as certain other related assets and liabilities will be contributed by APMM to a new legal entity under the name of Svitzer Group A/S (Svitzer Group), the shares of which are expected to be admitted for trading and official listing on Nasdaq Copenhagen A/S (Nasdaq Copenhagen).

As approved at an extraordinary general meeting of APMM, the shares in Svitzer Group were distributed to APMM shareholders, who in addition to their existing shareholding in APMM, become shareholders in Svitzer Group. The first day of trading for the shares of Svitzer Group on Nasdaq Copenhagen was on 30 April 2024. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:23, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Transportation and logistics, Maersk Supply Service[edit]

SUGGEST TO ADD THIS TEXT AT THE END:

On 20 March 2023, it was announced that A.P. Moller - Maersk had reached an agreement with A.P. Moller Holding, the parent company of the A.P. Moller Group, for an intended divestment of Maersk Supply Service. Maersk Supply Service will continue trading under its current name and will use the Maersk seven-pointed star logo as part of its brand. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:25, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Maersk Integration, ex Sealand, suggest to add this to end:[edit]

In 2023 it was decided to unify the Maersk brands and integrate the Sealand brand into Maersk. Over the course of 2023 all Sealand business was integrated with Maersk, and in December of 2023 the Sealand brand ceased to exist. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:26, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Maersk Integration, Maersk Global Service Center[edit]

SUGGEST TO MODIFY CURRENT TEXT TO THIS:

GSCs are in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chengdu, and Metro Manila, with new GSCs opening in Mexico and Brazil to support Americas customers. Under Tankers, offshore etc., Star Air, suggest the following updated text[edit]

Star Air operated 11 leased Boeing 767 cargo aircraft, primarily engaged in long-term contract flying for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Europe. The Maersk corporate aircraft, a Gulfstream 450, was also operated by Star Air. In August of 2022, Star Air became part of Maersk Air Cargo.

In 2023 Maersk announced the inaugural flight of a new air freight service with scheduled flights between Billund, Denmark (BLL) and Hangzhou, China (HGH) - the first scheduled air cargo operation between Denmark and Asia. The Eurasia operation began 20 March with three weekly flights on the first of three newly converted Boeing 767-300 freighters that were added to the fleet of Maersk Air Cargo. Under Maersk an Danish climate targets, suggest this text added to end:[edit]

In 2023, Maersk became the first in the shipping industry to have its 2030 and 2040 targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in alignment with a 1.5°C and net zero pathway under SBTi’s new maritime industry guidance. These new targets include specific sub-targets for scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and will replace previous targets announced in early 2022. Philip Lewin (talk) 12:31, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
